I would like to inform all those that may be considering the PHX Graphics 1970/72 Trans Am stripe kit for the blue car, DON'T!!!!
The stripe is not even close to being correct. It is hard for me to understand why someone would go to all the trouble of putting this kit to market and not making it correct. The layout of the stripe is WRONG. The original has an 1/8 inch clear border around the whole stripe. None to be found here. The stripe width on the deck lid & rear spoiler stripe is too wide. The roof stripe is too narrow ( about 3/4 of an inch). The hood might be right. This is when compared to an original GM stripe.
The price of this stripe kit was 409.00 plus shipping. That's a lot of $$$$$ where I come from. If the kit is not correct YOU SHOULD STATE THAT, and let us decide if we want purchace an INCORRECT stripe kit. I will be a Stencils and Stripe customer from now on. The stripe on the spoiler is an original GM stripe Thanks

Wow, 3/4" too narrow on the roof stripe?! That's good to know as I will eventually be buying a stripe kit for my white '70. Stencils & Stripes it is!

I am only referencing the stripe for the blue car here, I have no knowledge of the stripe for the white car. But feel free to comment.
I still have the rear spoiler and deck lid with the original factory installed stripe on it. let me tell you GM did a horse bleep job of installing these. the stripe is placed 3/4 of an inch out of center and is not all that straight either. So I have seen TWO sets of GM stripes, the originals on my car as well as the replacements that I bought in the late 70's.
The Phx Graphics deck lid and roof are not same width, The roof stripe is narrower than the deck stripe. The GM roof stripe is wider than the GM deck lid stripe. HEY YOU GUY'S GOT IT BACKWARDS. In the picture you can see that the PHX GRAPHICS deck stripe is wider than the GM stripe. Not counting the clear border on the GM stripe it is 18.125 from the outside of the blk pin stripe to the out side of the other blk pin stripe. The PG stripe is 18.375 for the same. Not that big of a deal, but where is the clear 1/8 border?
The roof is a little bit more screwed up. The GM roof stripe is MUCH wider than the GM deck lid stripe. The GM roof stripe is about 19.250 with the PHX GRAPHICS stripe being only 17.750, so that's like an inch and a half, and were is the clear border? I was wrong in my first post , these things are worse than I thought.
The Hood looks to be good, but where is the clear border?
I installed this kit knowing that it did not have the clear border, and was not correct. SHAME ON ME!!!
I did not realize that there was a big difference in the stripe width until I put the original spoiler on the car and it was obvious. I then started to measure some stuff. Yes I finished installing the kit because I did not have time before the show that I was trying to make to deal with this. So I am stuck with this, I will be replacing it in the future, but not the in the next couple of years. Thanks Phoenix Graphics...
My problem with this whole thing is NO WHERE in the PHX GRAPHICS web catalog does it state that this strip kit might not be totally correct. ( IN FACT IT REALLY IS NOT EVEN THAT CLOSE) WHERES THE CLEAR BORDER ?
Here is what they state on their web site...
"Produced on 3M material, these decals kits will bring your rapidly appreciating vehicle to its original condition. All details including the "black dot fade pattern" on the blue stripe makes this the finest product available today."
YA RIGHT!!!!!!
This is the first time that I have used a Phoenix Graphics product. I'm sure that they have many CORRECT and nice decal sets, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. So now you all can make the decision for yourselves.
I did not get that choice!!! But now you will..[/b]

Yes, I know you are referencing the stripe for the blue car & figured you might say something, but I was just saying that the general consensus seems to be (from other posts on this board as well) that the S & S kits for both the white and blue cars is better quality than the Phoenix Graphix. My blue '71 T/A will eventually get new decals too, so I'm glad you are sharing the specific info with everyone on your experience.

I was disappointed as well. There is now dot pattern on these stripes...maybe I need a telescope to see the dots!
