I just bought a 69 c-10 long bed. Truck is all original 350/400 and a 12 bolt. I have a 400 I want to install in place of chevy 350. I heard that 70-79 firebird headers will fit. I have almost everything that I need. I need some pics of the motor mount plates. What motor mounts do I need? Anything else I will need? Thanks

i cant offer much help but i guess when your done you'll have a 69 p-10 i was gonna put a 455 in my 82 gmc. it seems like ive been told the mounts on trucks are the same as most cars with 350s and you will only need to find a mount to fit your motor iam thinking a t/a mount would work

It's been awhile since we have done this swap but I think we used car frame mounts and welded them to in once the motor was set. On a mid 70's truck the shroud off of the truck worked with the pontiac. I don't remember what header we used but a couple of the swaps had headers and one had big car performance manifolds on it. I haven't done a swap into a truck since the late 80's so it's kinda foggy on what was done.
Good luck

Just get you a set of frame mounts from a 73 and up to about 87 I think it is chevy truck. Then use your 3 bolt hole pontiac motor mounts and clamshells. I had to move the mounts about a half inch if that and it all lined up. I have a Pontiac 400 in a 71 C-20 with a longtail turbo 400. Was a piece of cake.

chevy frame mounts differ from Pontiac ones. can't mix and match. Later pontiacs used metal motor mounts and rubber frame mounts, chey did just the opposite. suggest you get the later pontiac frame mounts from the auto store and bolt them it onto the frame. holes should be there already.

I used the chevy frame mounts like I said and pontiac motor mounts and clamshells like I said, other than that the frame mounts had to be adjusted about a half inch so that the trans bolted to the crossmember and the driveshaft didn't need shortened. Worked perfect in my truck!

Here's what I've been working on for my '63 Chevy truck project - 455 Pontiac with KRE D-Ports. I just finished mocking up the frame mounts using a set of Indian Adventures conversion motor mounts for a non-corporate block into a late model GM. I'm using a set of Hedman swept-back, shorty headers since my truck will be pretty low in the front.
