my heads wont bolt to the block HELP!!

unsure if this section is for ONLY pontiac race engines, but i have a major issue with this race boat engine,, its a 4bolt 350 1 piece seal block and i have these aluminum patriot heads,,, i started bolting them down this morning and all the bolts fit but the one on the end,,, there is NO hole!!

what the hell is going on!!

these are made in Alabama,, or so the guy said,,,, i was told they CNC these out after the order is placed. it took around 2weeks to get them. im also adding a 2in spacer on top of that hurricane intake lol

Wonder why the SBC don't have oil drain back issues the Pontiac aftermarket heads are supposed to? Even the factory SBC heads have little drain holes.

Skip - stroking a 409 ? Im guessing your doing some mods to a '54 crank to do that ?

Stroking a 409 is as easy as using a 3.76 396/427 crank pr a 4.0 454 crank and turnino the mains and counterweights down(and snout to SBC size) 409s had a 4.3125 bore and a 3.5 stroke originally. Get a 470 ci motor pretty easily. Down side even the good heads only flow around 250-270 cfm, hard to feed them just like our Ponchos.

yes its an allen... there is no gaskets under anything on that motor,,, im just sitting all the parts on and putting all the bolts in the holes. its just on for looks right now. lol

Two reasons:

1.) I had assumed he already had the bolts (save for one) torqued down.
2.) Everything else he's worked on has some degree of "afro-engineering" in it.;)

No, absolutely not. Once you determine where you are going to have your final adjustment on the rocker nut, back it off 1/8" turn, then lightly bottom out the set screw against the top of the stud, then turn both the set screw AND the rocker nut the final 1/8" turn together. If you tighten the set screw AFTER you adjust the rocker nut to the desired position, it will eventually back off and you'll lose the set.

got it,, glad i asked that question,, they came with no instructions and its my first time bolting rollers on an engine.

anything different i should do when bolting the aluminum heads to the cast block? im guessing i should re torque them a few times after running it. . thanks again!

Why would you want aluminum heads on a boat engine ? Unless its a closed cooling system.

Ahhhhhh, Deep Creek Lake. Boating season will be over in a month up there. You know someone with a place up there? My Aunt has a vacation home there, right on the lake, about 7 miles south of Wisp. My wife and I love it there, but it has changed alot in the last 20 years.

yes,, we rent a place right on the water with a floating dock, right down the creek from the boat gas station. 20 years ago the place was empty except for a few hunters and fisherman,,,, now its getting almost like ocean city..,,, well maybe not that bad lol

I started going there in 1980. Back then, the only chain restaurant in the entire county was a Pizza Hut in Oakland (still there). Walt's General Store in McHenry (across from where the post office used to be on old 219) was the only store unless you drove to Oakland. They didn't even have a movie theatre. Walt's is long gone, having been torn down and condo's built on top of it, and they have McD's, a theatre, at least 3 different supermarkets (including a super WalMart!) and more and more foreigner's. I was walking through the woods from the Muddy Creek Falls heading back to the parking lot when I was passed by an entire delegation from India, and thought "there goes the neighborhood".
