View Full Version : Disappointed with PY classifieds users

On two different occasions I've responded to classifieds here on PY wanting to buy parts. Both times the either the seller dropped off the face of the earth, or the car they were parting out suddenly disappeared.
Most recently I responded to "silver69judge", aka Bryan, parting out a 66 Bonneville. I emailed him a few times, and he responded quickly stating that he couldn't get to the car yet. OK, I thought, I'll email him again in a week or two. He said no one claimed the part I was after, so I'll give him time to get the parts off the car. When I emailed him again, he wrote back the car was gone except for some sheet metal and 8 lugs. I thought, WTF? Why didn't he write back in the original classified ad that the car was gone? Not to mention, I was serious about the part I wanted to buy, why advertise these parts for sale, when you're not going to stand behind the ad?
I emailed him back one more time to remind him of the part I wanted to buy. So far, he hasn't emailed me back. That was over two weeks ago.
The gripe here is, If you're going to advertise something for sale, be true to the ad, as things get sold off, let everyone know. Don't waste people's time responding to ads that are junk. PY is a great resource for Pontiac folks, let's not abuse it, or blow people off because you don't think it's important to keep them informed.

On the other side of the coin I have advertised on PY in the For Sale section. Answered questions and never heard back from Py'ers on nurmerous items. Not even a thanks but..........
I go on.
But the cincher was...........
I took a promise on the phone after 3 e-mails (and how very very interested he was and not a tire kicker while berating other tire kickers) that a deposit was on its way for my daughters 76 Firebird. After a week and a half contacted him to let him know no funds have arrived yet and then to hear he changed his mind. Glad I contacted him or I would still be waitng for that Deposit 3 months later. Still for sale.
So it goes both ways.

Thanks for reminding me.
I'm supposed to let someone know how much to ship a part from last week.

I understand the seller can get burned by the buyer...true story. All I wanted was a stinkin' rear defog switch for 65-66! Small part, easy to remove, and ship. The guy had a list of small parts, and I have no idea what happened. My guess is someone came along and offered to buy the whole car, and he figured to hell with the folks that wanted the insignificant little parts. He had the cash, and no more work to sell junk...

Yor always gonna hafta put up with scam artist. Deals fall through all the time.Thats life but some of us here need to grow up a little. I only deal locally face to face any more. If one more BOZO calls me up and promises me the check is in the mail one more time .... Or the idiots who demand a refund because they feel you did not spend 8 bucks on a box some tape and packaging material and the time it takes from a 35 dollar an hour job to stand in line at the post office to get them thier part before the world ends.Or here thier screachy whinny voice demanding you skip all the others and do business with them. or the jerks who make outrageous and inflamitory acusations about the condition of a part when plenty of photos tell the real story. Shouldn't people get a warning for that ?

I don't think Bryan is a scam artist. He's just taking advantage of a FREE classified ad and doesn't think he has to honor the ad and the people who take the time to respond to it...but my opinion of him doesn't really matter. If you read enough posts on this site, you'll find that b1tch1ing about another PY member doesn't get anything resolved. I believe what goes around, comes around. Bryan will get small dose of his own medicine from someone else.
The bottom line is, I'm not out any cash, so not a big deal. I'm just pi$$ed that he got my hopes up thinking I was going to buy a hard to find part, then pull the rug out from under me. So the next time Bryan submits a FREE classified on PY to sell parts I won't bite, and I'll probably give him a little reminder of the last time he got potential buyer's hopes up only to blow them off later...What a great guy...

I saw a part I wanted in the Classified on the FGF site. It was offered to someone on an open thread for a certain price a few days prior to my seeing it, I asked if it was still available since the first buyer passed on it, I was told yes but the price increased $25. Same part, nothing changed. WTF?
I made several offers to buy it at the original price, he declined so I passed.
Not a rare or expensive part, just something I needed, but I didn't care for the price switch with no plausable explaination. Had he blasted it, or changed something about it yes.
But it's his part, his decision, he still has it. I bought elsewhere for the original price, which is the going rate for them.

I saw Bryan's phone number too, thanks. I can't imagine what I'd say to him if I were to call. He'd probably hangup once he figured out why I was calling. I figure he'll pi$$ off the wrong guy sometime down the road and then realize what an amatuer hack he is, and that he has no business dangling parts in front of all the folks on this forum, only to not come through.

i'm getting tired of parts being in the classified's section....and then i reply and hear that someone had already PM'd and he had sold the item or that i was in line
I wish...people would post that they have PM'd and inquired about such and such item...so that i would know whether it's likely still available or not

I love the phucks who take the money then decide they'll ship when their damn good & ready! If I send you a payment quick, then you can at least send the part ASAP not a month or so later!
YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND I'M DONE WAITING!
