Now here's a plow truck idea....

I have a line on a K5 Blazer needing engine, seller wants to keep the Chev 350 in it.

I have a nice running 74 455 with 400 trans from 73 GP.

Blaze Prix???

How to make it work??? Motor mount ideas, starter wiring is different I think because Chev doesn't run a resistance wire, right? Exhaust shouldnt' be an issue and fuel deliveryis on the wrong side but not too big a deal. help me out here, this might be really quite cool.

(This is what I get for sitting in the hot sun today (85 degrees today in PA...Go figure) at a car show with nothing to do for a change.

I have a 400 in a 78 Chevy 4X4. Do you still have the Prix that the engine came out of. If so you can use those frame and motor mounts and manifolds. You are correct on the resistance wire as the 78 would be new enough for HEI. You can either run a separate ballast resistor for the points distributor or better yet, get an HEI dist for the 455. When I put the 455 in my 83 3/4 ton I used the motor and frame mounts out of the 75 Grandville the 455 came out of. I used an adapter plate to keep the 700r4 trans. I purchased a battery tray for a diesel since they have dual batteries I could get one for the driver's side. I used an old bare 350 block I had, bolted the engine and frame mounts to it, set it down in and bolted it to the trans, & marked the holes. If I remember right, I only had to drill one hole on each side as the rest lined up. I used 3 tube headers made for a 69 GTO and they fit great. I don't know how much difference there will be since yours is a 78 but I hope this helps and good luck with it.

I'm doing this myself.. 1985 1/2 ton 4x4 ... Has a 500 caddy eldo in it so it's gonna be a cinch! I'm using 69 firebird mounts that have the bolt come up through and just moving the riveted on frame pads to bolt everything up.. I'll post pics ...
