These tags are represented as original discontinued tags for automatic transmissions. The carefully worded description leads you to believe they have found a limited supply and this is your last chance to get one.

Buyer beware. This is a rip-off. The tags were never available as a separate part.

Joe is at it again. He has had the tags reproduced and has photographed the tag carefully placed over a GM package for the still available rivet that holds the tag on. The tag is covering the part number for the rivet. The part number for the rivet is 8622361. The photo makes it look like the tag is in the GM package, it is not. It is a reproduction.

Joe is a scoundrel. He lies to make money and calls it good business. He is laughing at the buyers of these tags just like he laughed at the buyers of his "NOS" trunk mat for the 70-73 Firebird. The mat was another reproduction part he sold to unsuspecting buyers as original.

I am sure this post will draw some defenders who will point out he has reproduced some needed parts, etc. I say anyone who knows him for what he is will not defend him. He is a parasite of our hobby. He is only motivated by his own greed and dishonesty.

In addition, Joe sells his tripower "bases" as a quality part, when the throttle blades are stamped, and not machined. There is absolutely no way to hold any kind of critical tolerance on a stamped part.......anyone that has tuned a tripower knows the critical feature of the blade to bore sealing area of the throttle bodies on the end carbs.

In addition, he sells the bases to PY.....

Better to stay clear of the inferior quality parts and patronize the experts (Mike's Tripowers, etc....)

Jegstek, you make a good point. Many who would want this tag would be trying to "fake" a non-original trans as original.

But on the other "other hand" there may be some who have an original trans with the tag damaged or missing. They could be legitimately seeking an original replacement tag.

My point is these tags are represented as original GM, which they are not, and that is consumer fraud under the law. It is dishonest and disgusting behavior, typical of this parasite called the Parts Place.

Good to know about this. I got nailed by a well known Camaro parts E-bayer. Everything he sells is "NOS". Can't wait for the day to hear he's a "heartbeat" away from going broke. These people are scum.

I was in the research phase of having a new tag made for my GTO. Spoke to a guy that made a few for some Chevy guys and I asked him why he didn't make more, like for Pontiacs, etc. He said because it was actually illegal to make the part without GM permission and it would be risky to advertise them for sale since it would be an an unauthorized reproduction of a GM part. It was going to cost me several hundred dollars to have 1 tag made.

I bet that is way the parts on ebay are being worded so carefully. He doesn't want to admit they are reproduction parts because they are most likely not officially licensed by GM.

I did buy one of the tags for off of ebay for $39. I suspected they were reproductions even before I received it because it is not EXACTLY like the originals I have seen. When I received it I was certain it is a reproduction...it was shipped loose...not GM packaging. I'm still very glad to have it, saved me some time and money.

The other thing that tipped me off that these were reproductions on ebay....how could ANYONE be so lucky as to find a stash of these and have them all be the most desirable codes from the muscle car era. like for RAIVs, hi-po big block Chevies, stage 1 Buick (BB), W30 Olds (OW), etc. It is too good to be true.

You are probably correct is many cases, but not all cases....I bought one because my original tag has very little of the original paint on it. It is not bent and the engraving is nice and clear, just no must color left. I will keep the original but have my repro stamped to match the original.

but it still only helps to legitimize the sellers, as the same "benefit of the doubt" must be afforded them as well. Come on, none of us are ignorant enough to believe that we would get genuine GM parts if it did not boast of a GM licence, at least I hope not! lol Ron
