You run into these type of guys/deals once in a while. Basically a guy puts out a car/part for sale. Leads you on that he's going to sell you the car/part ... then backs out because he thinks he can get more money. In this case it looks like he told a few people that he'd sell them his car - only to bail. Richard Ackert is not a guy I will do business with. Had my Dad (67 years old) so excited he went out and shoveled off our trailer (shouldn't be doing stuff like that since he's had a heart attach in the past) and I went to the bank and got the money out... then lead me on thinking it was just a matter of removing some snow... three weeks later... nothing?

Below is our email conversations starting from the last to the first at the bottom.

OK. This message is will probably cause some disappointment and disinterest in the car but here's the story. I've taken the car off all for sale listings except Performance Year because I can't figure out how to delete it there. I feel the car is worth more than the price I listed it at.

Within the next month and before the first weekend in May which is the Rhinebeck car show and cars for sale the car is going to be sanded and put in primer. The interior put back together and have the car running and moving. I am going to price it at between $3000-$3500. My goal is bring as close to $3k as possible at that time. So for now I am looking to get as close to $2500 as possible. Remember there was no money put on the car from the listings. This a pure business deal on my part and supply and demand on restorable Pontiacs. Sorry for any of your wasted time but I have had stuff like this happen to me and
it is a little disappointing. Rich

Chris, Car is not going anywhere because of the fact that there is major lake over ice right now and it is private property that I can't have anybody getting stuck on. I have removed some of the snow but it is flooded now. And I believe we talked about a buyer from Amsterdam that is bugging me big time to get this car. Will be out at the car tomorrow and get a better look. Rich

He told me he was waiting for someone to come down and leave a deposit.

Yah - he told me the car was mine and that he would call to let me know what day to come down.... then kept saying.."next week" and then "I have to get the snow removed" - "and once he did he'd let me know"

... Bad ethics.

Well, to be honest the first red flag was the ad was his very first posting. Who know if/when he will log on again. Might have sold locally and is now ignoring everyone else. May not be a true "enthusiast", just trying to move a car.

GTOGreg,i have some thing to do with him being a member here.I called him when the ad came out.He basically told me the same things he told triathlonx13.I told him to come here and list it.He is a gruff kind of guy.He told me don't come with out money and waste his time.Looks like he likes to waste others time!He now thinks the car is worth BIG bucks. All these ass wipes who do not know about Pontiac's think they can get top dollar for junk.
