Steve Ames = Ames Performance

I just heard (maybe I've been under a rock) that Steve Ames sold all or part of his business Ames Performance.....?

Steve did sell the retail side to some of his employees a while back, maybe 2+ years ago. He is still involved in the engineering side developing repro parts.

Yep, you've been under a rock. As jarhead posted, Steve sold Ames Performance Engineering to a couple of his employees. I believe it was more than 2 years ago. He still maintains an office on site and works in the wholesale and reproduction side of the business.

Good for him - He's been in the business for a long time. Sounds like he has the best of both worlds now!

I remember him selling it a few years back.I go to spring and summer Carlisle and he is always there talking and waiting on customers.Ames has always been my first stop for repro parts.

Yup - He is a nice guy. We caravanned (sp?) with him and his crew out to the 2006 Pontiac Nationals. Little did I know he stayed with us because he thought the trailer I had my 68 GTO on wasn't going to make it! Before I headed back home from the event he kindly let me borrow his battery powered saws-all to cut off a part of the trailer that had broke loose (which if left on would have caused a bad road obstacle!)
