Got another one in today and very happy with the work!
I have two carbs done and back to me looking super nice!
His knowledge base and willingness to help is "rare" anymore.
If I called to ask a question about another car of mine's carb for example, he NEVER asked me to call back and took the time to answer, explaining all of the parts I needed to know about . If for "show or go" he has it covered.
These traits say alot about a business owner who doesnt fall behind excuses, even though in their case they had a rather bad accident, and I bet he is still hurting every minute of the day.
I know how he feels.
Its a chore just to get moving.
Thanks Cliff! :usa2:

I also had a great experience with Cliff and his service. I received my carb a few months ago, and I couldn't be happier. I spoke with Cliff a couple of times on the phone and we have exchanged emails to answer my questions. Cliff has always been willing to talk and answer my questions. Even the non carb questions.
I will definitely do business with Cliff and his wife again. (she was also friendly and great to work with)
Not to mention that all of my Pontiac buddies are envious that I have a Cliff Carb.
Thanks again Cliff!

Yah, Cliff's okay for a white guy... Argh! Argh! Humor... First class guy, first class work. And don't limit him to Pontiacs, he knows and does Q-Jets for any application.
Jim
Just for my info.....how long is it taking to get one of his carbs back? I have a QJet I thinking of getting over to him. I heard once it was like 5-6 months wait..

Thanks guys for the kind words. We are officially at least 8 months out currently on carb work. This is for complete rebuilds and restorations. We work "tune-ups" thru a bit quicker.
A "tune-up" is for finished carburetors that do not need cleaned, or shaft bushings, sealed up bottom plugs, heli-coil inserts, unwarping, machining parts flat, etc. Our tune-up service is for carburters that are complete, clean and in good working order, than just need recalibrated and performance modifications.....Cliff

Same here, second Cliff carb was as perfect as the first! And Jim is correct about not limiting him to Pontiac engines. Cliff did the Q-jet on my wifes 403 Olds in her 79 T/A and that thing is more responsive than fuel injection!
I am currently building my own Qjet and have purchased all my goodies from Cliff (One stop shopping!) When I have called about a technical question, Cliff has always taken the time to thoroughly answer my questions and provide the needed guidance. He is also great about calling back if you miss him.
They don't get any better than this. 8 months is worth the wait in my opinion, just send it in September and have it back for next season.

Just want to mention Cliff also has those hard to find parts. Like one of the others previously stated, he's a full service business. If you need it, he's probably got it!

No doubt about it, Cliff is the ultimate in customer service. He's done 2 carbs and a distributor for me. I also purchased a carb the he had built for someone else from another PY member. He's always taken the time to help me fine tune and trouble shoot. Even for the carb that I did not purchase directly FROM him. He's not only a credit to the PY crowd; he's been a credit to the hobby in general.

Hey Jeff. Things are good here. Just had a boy 9 weeks ago. Keeping busy. Just got back from a 50 mile drive out in the country with my wife. Took the 71 out and got to open it up out on the back roads of eastern NC. Beautiful day. Nothing but farmland and woods.!
CLiff did the distributor 3 years ago I believe. Made a huge improvement in driveability and mileage.
Let me know if you are ever out this way. I'll let Steve know and we can get together. Best regards, Ken

it's overdue but i have to add my 2 cents about cliff's work. i sent my 68s carb to him and waited 6 months or so and started to get antsy waiting. but having read the good feedback here i just waited. so it comes and hell it sat for another 6 months before installation. let me tell you i couldn't be happier. it outperformed my expectations from idle thru wot. i hadn't raced the car in several years but new its track record, so 1st time out at virginia it blows away what it previously ran with an unmodified intake in the hot virginia sun. another satisfied customer.

I have never delt with Cliff but I have only ever heard good things about him. I wouldn't hesitate to send him a work. He has been described to me as honerable and a hell of a carb builder! Hope buisness is going well for you Cliff. Its getting tougher and tougher to be in buisness each day. Your reputation is everything and you have that covered!

I purchased Cliff's book and parts to rebuild my Q-jet after speaking with him. His book and the info included in his rebuild kits gave me the knowledge to get maximum performance from my carburetor. The difference is unreal! I encourage anyone who needs a carb re-build to get Cliff's book & rebuild kit and go for it. Just give Cliff the carb number you wish to re-build. The q-jet I rebuilt was purchased for $15 at a swap meet.

What can you say about Cliff that hasn't been already said.
I ordered a carby and got it sent to me (Australia) with no hassles. Had a couple of questions about some minor adjustments required and he was most helpful and went out of his way to help. Compared to the carby I removed which i got rebuilt locally and used while waiting for Cliff's product, the difference was literally like chalk & cheese.
Have recommended him to a lot of guys down under who ask about the rebuild.

I sent mine in Jan. and am still waiting. Then again I waited 9 months for our baby to get here and she is a beauty.
Does Cliff also sell ready to carbs as well? I just sent in a core but now think I would have been better off getting one of the 800 CFM castings instead.

Right now we're at least 8 months out, and seldom get any better than about 6 months. I simply refuse to start mass producing the work, and want to maintain complete control over everything we build right to the moment UPS carries in out of here. We tried hiring a couple of guys at one point, got caught up some, and we started getting all sorts of calls. Folks were getting sent the wrong carburetors, gaskets not sent with them, not getting all their parts back, someone elses part, parts missing or not tightened, etc, etc. Instead of working my rear off building carburetors, I was working twice as hard making sure someone else took the time to do the work correctly, and I still missed some things.
Deb decided to quite here job two years ago and run the business, and help some in the shop, and I do all the assembly and testing. Been working out WAY better for the most part, except we are limited in production, and woln't be getting caught up anytime soon......Cliff

Cliff, your business practices are WAAAY out of date. I have a couple suggestions to help you reduce turnaround time, increase volume, and make yourself more money (modernize it):
Outsource order taking, and customer service to a call center in India
Hire a couple of illegals ("guest workers") for disassembly/cleaning at $0.05 a day
Train some techs to do the work, you should be management, just drop in every other day to see how things are going
Just kiddin....... It's nice to see there are still some businesses that are going to do things ONE way..........the right way. I was very happy with my Q-jet from Cliff too (made good dyno #s).........car is done with paint and getting wired now.........can't wait to see how it pulls on the street.

why outsource when I bet any number of us here in the forum would 'kill' to apprentice under his guidance. I would in a hearth beat with no wages needed. heck.. willing to pay even :)

Huge Thumbs up.
I just received my Carb from Cliff.
Have not installed it yet. But it's like a gold trophy for my motor.
Dealing with Cliff has been almost as fun as checking out the new carb. He did a bunch of special tweaks and I cant thank him enough.
He's just a really good guy that sets the standard for no a BS product and service. With a few laughs along the way.
Yeah ya gotta wait.. but..you know what they say.
Thanks Cliff.
