Who can I trust to magnaflux & check a set of 72 455 HO heads?
I am located in the Lehigh Valley PA (about 1.5 Hours north of Philly
and about 45 Min west from Phillipsburg NJ and about 1.5 hours from NYC
I would drive up to 2 Hours away to drop them off.

I have heard good things about Jim Taylor Engine Service
in Phillipsburg NJ, but I was told he out sources the machine
work to a local machine shop any one know who he uses?

I also read about Racecrafters in Lancaster PA through HPP magazine
anybody here deal with them?

I dont have alot to spend but I want them checked properly
to see if I have good heads or junk before spending money on
valves, springs ect.

Any leads on a good but affordable shop would be appreciated
Also what can I expect to pay to have a set of heads cleaned & checked (no machine work)

Thanks!

jason; easton auto electric (yeah, i know it sounds funny--but good crew) might offer magnafluxing. it's the machine shop side of Easton Auto Parts/NAPA located by the intersection of 9th and northampton street. if they don't offer it Taylor uses Martyn Motors which is down in Morrisville, PA, (111 west Bridge street) it's a haul, all the way down 611/32 along the river but Barry and his sons are among the best out there--absolute straight up and reasonably priced. i'm digging around for phone numbers for both for ya. Martyn= 215-295-2500.

There is a guy in Hatboro Pa. near me named Mike Rodgers, he mostly does full race chevy stuff but has a machine shop in his garage that would be the envy of everyone around.
He specializes in chevy but works on everything and is a very competent builder.
He did my 72 7F6 heads and the price was quite reasonable. I was very happy with the result. Mine came out very nice, he did a great job of setting them up with new valves, springs and existing cam. I don't want to post his number here but you can PM me for it if you like. I have about 2500 miles on the car since the heads went on and no issues since.

My wifes family owns a Thai restaurant in Bethlehem and it takes me about 50 minutes to get there from here.

Martyn Motors fixed my cracked 1972 ho exhaust crossover for me and did an excellent job for a good price.

Contact Paul Spotts, all he does is Pontiac. Built my 464 a couple of years ago and it's real strong. Paul lives in Hatfield PA. His site is http://www.spottsperformance.com
