same order as lost intake, ra 1V head delivered to house, heard a big thump on the carport, ran outside, the friggin delivery man just dropped it on the slab!
last week....
Fedex ruined a set of alumastars. looks like apes shipped them. back flanges are warped on each wheel. have to file a claim.
no wonder the economy is in a pisser, crooked bankers, lazy US automakers, and sorry azz delivery services..

Bottom line- nobody cares anymore, put my time in, gimme my check. Not to defend them but most of the problem with shipping is the lack of packaging. Shippers put a part loosley in a big box and put one sorry ass little stip of clear tape across the top and call that well packed?

I have some first-hand knowledge here. I was a UPS employee from 1992-2000. I did every job from unloading trucks and trailers, loading trucks and trailers, shuttling Next Day Air from airport to hub, package car driver, Next Day Air and Saturday Air delivery driver. I can give this advice: Package everything using more tape and peanuts than you think is necessary. Pack the items so that you can drop the box from chest height to the floor and not break anything. UPS only pays it's warehouse employees around 9 dollars an hour. They are part-time, usually 20-somethings, college students, etc. They don't really care enough to handle your package with care. They have a supervisor (who is also overworked and underpaid) up their a$$ for 4-5 hours straight with no breaks. The only time the conveyor belt stops is if there is a jam, or there are no more trucks/trailers to load/unload. Otherwise it's balls to the wall. Your package may be handled by 20-30 different people between your hands and the receiver's hands. Not every one of those people give a crap about your goods. Some UPS hubs have miles and miles of conveyor belts. Your package can get dropped, crushed, jammed, slammed, kicked, punted, etc anywhere along the way. Usually your delivery driver is a good person and handles his packages carefully. However, not every driver is a good person and can have bad days. Your package may be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Nothing personal to you or your goods, but it happens. Ever see a really lazy, old overweight UPS guy? No, because they bust their a$$es all day long. They are paid well but they earn every dollar. Again, the moral here is this: Package your items well. Go overboard on the tape, peanuts, and bubblewrap. Write your name and address in ink on the box in the upper left hand corner, in case the label gets torn off. Pay the extra money for the insurance. Spend the extra money on the good packaging tape, don't use masking or duct tape. It sucks and won't hold up.

ya don't get me too started on UPS I get up to 10 packages a month sent to our house between my wife and I.
She always gets her packages and when I order the driver suddenly cannot find the house!!!
Of course our one "regular" driver seems to always find it and gives my dog milk bones.
I call and call each time filing complaints and still go through the circle. One time the driver even dropped it at a neighbors house because he could not find my house and the package was lost for 2 weeks. What bull.
I guess I need to get a set of **** or order everything in her name. LOL

Same issue this past week. Shipped a trunk-lid via FedEx Ground from Canada down to Texas. Used packaging from the repro trunk-lid I received (with no issues) from Parts Place Inc, near Illinois.
The person I sold it too, received the lid, it looks like someone stuck knives or blades through the box and threw the entire package down a set of stairs! The net-net is the lid will likely need to be re-skinned (they even bent a corner, and crushed one of the foam edges I placed on the trunk edge). How hard do you have to hit the box to cut through heavy gauge foam??
My hope is he will recoup through the insurance claim. The laughable part is I made $0 on the sale - the cost to ship it ate my entire shipping allowance, and the value of the part (< $100).
I am trying to think of ways I can make it up to the buyer. I may try and send him some smaller 'gratis' parts to help ease his trauma (and pain).
I thought FedEx ground was much better than UPS, but now I am not so certain.

I am told that fedex drivers get paid by the number of items they deliver. Our fedex driver drops all my packages 3/4 mile away (at the Pro Shop of our golf course rather than the maintenance bldg). I caught him once and complained to him. I have complained many times to fedex with no help. Shortly after our meeting the fedex driver brought me a package for someone else!! His response: "It's addressed to the city, isn't it!?" (We are a municipal golf course). Probable not all, but certainly ONE of their drivers is doing a poor job for what reason? I may be guilty of the 'some/all' falacy, but I can never recommend fedex for anything!
