Wondering if 69 Production line 722 heads flow better or worse than 1973 Service replacement 722 heads?
Comparing stock original untouched heads
Any differences between them?
Feedback appreciated

Probably no difference. How can you tell the SR head from the original production head when the casting dates were ground off to make the valve spring pockets? Did they move the casting date on the SR heads?

To the best of my knowledge, I don't recall every seeing an actual SR 722 casting. (That doesn't remotely suggest that it didn't happen though!)

All those I've see were actually #614s with the casting number ground off and "722" stamped in. The latter being the case, the #614 intake port is slightly more effecient and flows a little better.

Can you post a picture of them?

The size of the 722 is different between the production and SR heads.

I have a pair of NOS 722 Service replacement heads.

Easy way to tell them from production heads is the 722 font cast into exhaust runner of head is slightly smaller than on a production line head.

Hoping maybe some one has flow tested both and would maybe know the answere to my question?

I'd bet different valves and valve job angles would make more difference in the flow numbers.

The SR 614s I got had never even had a valve job on them.

That's great information. That could very well be the reason I've never noticed an SR 722 casting! Can you post a picture of the casting with the different font?
