Which type of pillar cover is correct for a 69 GTO? I see metal ones and vinyl both for sale for my application. My 69 Hurst/Olds has metal ones.

My '69 Chevelle had vinyl pillar posts...if that helps.

The 69 GTO used both soft padded A-pillar covers and metal A-pillar covers depending upon build date.

The padded covers were used on all 1968 GTOs and were carried over on '69 models until about March 1969 when the changeover occured to metal covers.

So in order to be spot on correct, you should figure out your build date and go from there. Otherwise I would use metal ones since they are easier to find and much easier to restore if needing paint. The padded ones are hard to find in excellent original conditon plus I don't think they are being reproduced.

My Judge was built 3rd week of March. Bought the car disassembled, but it came with soft covers. Just thought it would be easier to resto a pair of metal ones, as mine are cracked at the bottom....western car.
