Might be sending the Demon out for some fine-tuning so I stuck a q-jet on the Bird yesterday to see if it would run well enough to at least be able to street drive the car until the Demon is back. Idle was okay but if I blipped the throttle the rpm would hang at 1500 and I would have to back off on the fast idle screw to get the rpm backdown. Then I would reset the idle at 900-1000 and repeat the test; same thing each time. I was controlling the carb at the linkage, making sure that the throttle was closing all the way. Fuel pressure is 7-7.5 psi. Is this too much for the Q-jet, or could there be some other cause? This carb was loaned to me by a friend who had not run it in at least several years although it had been rebuilt just before he put it on the shelf.

The Q-jet needs to be adjusted for your engine.
What is the duration on camshaft at .050" lift? LSA?

What is the # on the unit?

What are the sizes of the idle bypass air, idle tubes, upper and lower idle air bleeds, idle down channel restrictions, idle needle screw holes?
What are the sizes of the main airbleeds in horn and in bowl?
What are the primary jets an rods?
