Can anyone recommend a cross country car shipper

Can anyone recommend an auto transport service for cross country USA that they have used and were happy with? Car is not utra rare needing enclosed transport, but want releliable and professional. I have a paid for Poncho sitting in NY that I need to get to Montana.

This one outfit is over two weeks trying to get me a slot on a truck. Part of my dilemna is I am two hours north of the interstate on a state highway. (Missoula to Kalispell). I would pick car up in Missoula, but there are two negatives. One is road testing a new to me vintage car for two hours is a little relying on optimism of the unknown. Second is I would half expect a two hour notice call in the middle of the night telling me to hurry down and they won't wait if I'm late kind of stress deal. So I will pay the more $ for the side trip north two hours, unless there is no way to book it or they want a gazillion bucks. Number first shipper was hoping to book for was 1400, but they think it may take more to get a truck based on non responses.

Any tips appreciated, It is getting old not seeing my new car.

As info, the carrier might just be a guy who bid on it or might be someone who's an affiliate of the company you hire.
I shipped a car from Oregon and it arrived on a 3 car carrier driven by an Armenian (maybe) with a Dodge 3500 dualie who was making his first East Coast trip. I'm positive he dinged the bumper by securing the car too close to the large piece of equipment he had loaded in front of the car.

Being a carhauler (10 car semi),vintage auto dealer & lifetime 'hot rodder', I would reccomend using someone who truly understands vintage vehicles, even if it means an extra wait. I don't know Jim, but I know the car hauling industry and I would be willing to bet if he is unable to help you, he will point you in the right direction. It costs $1.00 a mile to run a diesel one ton dually hauling a trailer minimum

80% of the private car sales are transported by multi car carriers

Multi car carriers have an industry wide satisfaction rate around 85%

New York to Montana - look to have at least (3) transfers

Damage usually occurs during transfer

Winter is coming - according to the Farmers Almanac it is going to
be a bad one (80% accuracy)


Either drive your car home - go after it with a trailer - or pay someone
a price that reflects the actual cost to transport it ..... ;)

Best to use someone who truly loves and knows the value of one of these old rides, rather than take a chance on someone who is just a truck driver
