As stated I am interested in a Mallet LS converted Solstice, must be a manual trans, prefer red or yellow but all colors considered.

Never mind it looks like I just bought a grey 2006 Mallet LS2 Powered example with only 18,000 miles on it. Never spent that much on a car sigh unseen before.

I was going to wait until I actually took delivery of it, but here is a link to the Brokers Site. It is about 4 hours away from me, so depending on the weather it will be at least next week before I can bring it home.
My offer was quit a bit below what they were asking, and that price wasn't to bad for what it is and its mileage and condition.

I wonder what it tips the scales at?

According to an Old Car and driver review from 2007 the car they tested weighed 3094lbs
But the car they tested had the uprated Mallet 19" Wheels, Upgraded Brakes, Chassis Brace, and does not mention if it has A/C or other options.

The car I am getting does not have the Wheel or brake upgrades, does have A/C, and does have most if not all power accessories. so I would guess at 3150 to 3200 lbs. so 400HP should be a lot of fun. At least I hope it will be a lot of fun.

My wife just roller her eyes and said she plans on making sure my life insurance is up to date from time to time! LOL!!!! (I hope)

Our 2007 GXP 5 speed turbo is awesome fun. I'd imagine an extra 100 hp would take it up quite a few notches. Good luck.

Thanks, fingers crossed I can work out the final financing hurdle, unfortunately the NADA value is for a stock 2.4 and that comes up about $5,000 short of what I was Looking to borrow.
On to option B

Yours must be pretty quick if it has 300HP. What mods have you done to your GXP?

I may have to check out the new M1 Track in Pontiac MI with it.

Not 100% sure all the mods are but I'm told it's akin to the GMPP Stage II mods (290 hp 330 tq?). My son is into the tuner scene (as well as his 68 vert) and he's into the EVO's, Honda SI, STI's etc. He uses flashpro, etc. I'm not really into those cars but I guess it's his generations thing. I'm happy he's wrenching and painting with me though so I don't judge his taste for Japanese HP (OK sometimes I do lol).

Sounds Like a Fun Car, I was considering one simalure to yours when I found the Mallet, I think you have the right attitude with your sons car choices, just be glad you can spend time with him and both of your cars.

Looks like I solved the finaceing hurdles. If all goes well I will have it home on Tuesday.

I see it has not had the ignition switch recall done, and is still riding on the marginal 10 year old Goodyear tires. Those will have to be upgraded before spring.

RPO T-2 got you the SCCA bigger brakes used on GM's pown Solstice racer and many others that had a Hard top and raced.
Check out the Arrow head on this car SCCA Winner ! Picture From NHIS SSB class racing

That side arrow head is impressive! I heard about the SCCA package, but upon investigation the package deleted sound insulation, and you could not option A/C on the cars. so while they are impressive for SCCA racing or autocrossing, I would rather have a more street able car to live with day to day in the summer months.
I just got my cars PCM back hopefully the Cruise control is fixed, and the low RPM surging when short shifting is fixed now. But unfortunately I will not know for sure until spring.

I see the link to my cars pictures is dead, so just in case anybody did not see my little sleeper here are pictures of 2006 Mallet #024

Nice car!! The transmission is an "Aisin" RPO MA5, AR5 Transmission. It has a .73 Over drive.Transmission is made in Japan . While GM did use it in the H3 , it can have some issues with syncros, and the shift knob vibrates some and make a noise. Its NOT a trans you can skip clutching with or beat on. 260 ft/lb of torque is MAX....
Stock, the Non Turbo Solstice is a 50/50 car and can go around a DROP of Ice Cream in the middle of the road without slowing down!! . The LS weighs a bunch more, so be careful to keep the rear in check on corners. Good luck!!

Thanks, I hear what you are saying about the stock trans and rear axle. I was concerned about it also, but the only owners that seem to have issues with the stock Aisin trans are cars that either have LS7's, or 500 plus HP LS2's or LS3's. The only other owner that had an issue was a hopped up 5.3 iron blocked car, the owner had 50 plus 1/4 mile passes with Slicks. So between the extra 80+ lbs of the iron block, and the extra stress of the slicks? Would I rather have a T56? You bet!!!!! But that wont be in the future unless there is an issue with the original trans.
More likely I will be looking for a CTS 3.23 LSD center section to replace the 3.93 LSD stock unit. Between the steep 1st gear of the Aisin trans and the 3.93 axle ratio 1st gear is only good to around 7mph.
As for weight the manual trans version of the LS2 weighs 450lbs dressed, the manual trans version of the stock 2.4 L850 is 331lbs so the LS only weighs 119lbs more. The suspension modes done to my car supposedly take 12lbs off the car so that brings the increase down to 105llbs. Not a lot. According to everything I can find the lower center of gravity of the LS engines actually improve the handling. I did weight the car at work when I got it, with me in it (225lbs) and around 10 gallons of gas ( 62lbs ) the car weighed in at 3286lbs so it weighs just over 3000lbs empty. Stock the closest numbers with all the options my car has would be around 2850lbs so my estimate is the mods added around 150lbs to my car for 230 extra HP.
My fingers are crossed for the life of the trans also.
