Good evening. As the new owner of a 70 Bonneville convertible I am trying to fix some items, how do I get to the clock. Does the instrument cluster drop out from the front or does the whole dash assy have to be pulled? By pulling the ashtray assy ,I can get to the back of the clock to unbolt it, could it come out that way? Any advice would be appreciated.

not a simple job. probably easier to pull the whole dash pad and all out together.

Thank you for your response, now I have to see if I can find a step by step as to how to pull the complete assy.

There's a copy of the factory service manual for your car at the Old Car Manual Project website. It looks like replacing the clock isn't that difficult.

Here's the link to the overview page: http://pontiac.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/1963/1963%20Tempest%20Shop%20Manual/index.html

Here's the link to the specific page about removing the clock: http://pontiac.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/1970/Chassis%20Service%20Manual/41-%20Accessories/image16.html

Thank you for your response, I now have a game plan to fix the clock.

Much easier on a fullsized car than the A body. Remove the glovebox and the ashtray and you can easily access the clock. ISI sells bulletproof quartz motion kits for those clocks. If you have AC you also have to remove the lower air distribution plenum and the duct to the center dash vent. Still easy.
