I have a 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix that has a 1963 coded motor in it - not sure as to why.. I inherited this from my wife’s grandad. I have had it for 7 years.

Currently undergoing an engine rebuild. I did a full gasket, changing out some key parts like oil pump, rear main seal, electric ignition, etc.

I’m at the stage to prime the oil. I bought an oil priming tool from Ames that fits on my drill to turn the shaft inside the distributer hole on the oil pump. I turned it counter clockwise for 3-4 minutes and never saw any oil.

I know that earlier models oiled from the rocker studs, which is covered by the rocker nut and washer, so I took one off to see if I could get oil to come up that way. Still nothing.

I replaced the nut and washer and turned the motor two full revolutions and tried again. Still nothing.

The underdash evaporator assembly is big, and just doesn't look "right", although period correct for dealer installed AC. . I'm probably going to use it for now, but I'm hoping there's another option that is a little more hidden. Everything under the hood is set as far as compressor and condenser. There's no parts cars or junkyard stuff anywhere near me, I've been looking for a while. Only thing I found was a non AC car that was pretty much stripped already. Post up your install, at a minimum it might give me some ideas. I've seen some references to using a system made for a Chevy full size, but not much detail as to how much work was needed to get it done. It's been under the car and operating for many years and it never bothered me that the 66 spring bottoms are much larger than the round anchors on the 68 spring perches. But now it does bother me, so does anyone know if I can use 68 full size springs for this setup? Will springs for a 68 have the appropriate spring rate and height? Will the top of the spring fit the 1966 body?
