I don’t think I sent another message .. I asked about wiring the diode and how to solder them in the circuit. You answered that question. Just to update you , I received all the parts today. I will start wiring it together tomorrow morning. Thanks again for your help.

    George,

I've got a 67 Grand Prix with a factory ammeter in the dash. I'd like to upgrade my system from an external voltage regulator to a 12SI 3 wire system. The current voltage regulator has two wires connected to it per the attached drawing.
Should the voltage sensing wire go from the new alternator #2 terminal to a connection between the ammeter and the battery or should the voltage sensing wire be connected to the junction block?
I'm planning on installing relays for the headlights. Should the new headlight voltage source come from a connection between the battery and the ammeter?

    Thanks very much

    Rick

    George,
I have been having an electrical issue and in searching this on other posts you seem to be the electrical wizard so I thought I would ask you to impart your wisdom on me. I hope you dont mind.

The generator light is dim when the key is in the off position on my 69 Grand Prix (rally gauges). It had been coming on bright while running but lately it just seems to be dim when not running. I have installed a new alternator and tried 3 different external voltage regulators. When I unhook the 4 wires that connect to the regulator it goes from dim to bright while not running. Installed a new engine wire harness from PY. It starts and runs fine. Any suggestions?

    Hi George,

I need some guidance relating to wiring a mini starter. I checked all the links, but not sure if any relate to my query? I've attached the link below:

A schematic drawing would be perfect. I will be using a points distributor to start the new engine build.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jake

    George,

I wrote you some time ago about a regulator buzzing on my 67 GTO. Had other issues to work on, but now I’m back to the buzzing! Bought an AC Delco unit and it buzzes and also the Standard unit that was on the car! Charles(Old Goat) has been helping me with other issues and said to drop you a line!

When I look at the schematics of the alternator light in the car, it is tied to the alternator and regulator circuit through the pink and brown wire. When the alternator spins up, the light goes off! Mine never comes on when you turn the key on and I have a new M&H wiring harness! I have looked at the bulb and the filament seems fine, but it could be an issue!

To the point, if the light is out or the wiring is at fault so lack of a circuit, would that induce the regulator noise? If I cannot find out what is causing the noise, I guess I’ll install an internally regulated unit, but then how do I know it will not have the same problem.

The noise is pretty loud if you remember the sound clip I put online. When the car gets to around 700 revs the sound will stop! I’m at wits end!

Charles did install a ground strap from the block to the firewall and I noticed the gas gauge works now! Should I add another? Grasping for straws!

    George,

I took off my water pump today hoping and expecting to see a quarter in gap or more but to my dismay the propellers are already spaced .10 to the plate. Any other suggestions as I really thought this was the answer. I have a 6 and 1/4 inch pulley on the water pump. Could I go to a 5 inch pulley to increase the water flow? I also see people speaking fairly well about these Champion brand aluminum radiators on EBay. Any thought on these compared to buying one out of the PY catalog?

    Thanks!

    Hey George,

I need some help with a relay. As you may know, I am restoring a '62 GP. The A/C blower motor relay is bad. I can't find one anywhere, and I looked almost everywhere. Is there a different one I can use? I'm not too worried about originality. I found a lot of them for later years, but they all have four connectors. Mine relay only has three connections. How would it connect to a four connection relay? THANKS for the help.

    George,

Were you the one that responded to my ad for an OEM GSX spoiler for sale? If so, please e-mail me at tpssonic@charter.net or call me at (231) 937-4113. I have some pictures of the spoiler. I am asking $500 for the spoiler. It is in very good condition.
    Thanks, Tony
