Keith I got lucky on the 71 TA carb bought a carb I thought might be right and i was 20.00 at Charlotte swap meet. Those carbs are also over 1K. The Ram air Carbs are generally around 2K. Stuff is like the cobra jet mustang stuff big $, try to buy a shaker set up for a 70 stang! Lucky for you they made over 100K 79 TAs alone, keeps the price down, I think the tally from 77-81 easily tops 300K cars never mind the formulas and plain FBs. Mark

1100 doesnt seem like a bargin to me. But I guess if the numbers where correct it would be worth it. Well I hope you make out all right on this.

Keith The carb started out as something decent, probably just a plain old gto auto carb, it is an early poncho carb just not a rare one, probably a 250-300 carb if it still had it's orig numbers. So he had to be a bit more selective in picking out his fake material anyhow, it just became an expensive mistake I paid 1100 with shipping for it which would have been a bargin compaired to some, but 800 to much for what i got. Crazy what people will do to make a buck. But any one who's going to pay big money is going to know the carb or what ever part there buying , What a dumb a** . He probably took it of some old cadilac and thinks he is making a mint.

Yeah they were a modified Q jet and Tom says there is definately evidence of it being restamped. Basically bull**** to pay really decent money for something advertised as the real thing. i have driven a couple dic brake cars and yeah they stop well, guess that is why everything went away from Drum. I have a couple of recourses with the carb. I filed an initial claim with paypal to resolve it and I did it through my CC so i can also call them and just cancel payment, then i will ask him to send the $ to mail his fake back or it can sit around at my house and wait on him because I am not paying to mail it back so he can scam someone else. So another words its just a standard rochester or carter re-stamped to have the date code? If so that is scr*wed up. It tookthe guy for ever to send it to , Probably because he haddent got done stamping it. I can tell you one thing about the disc brake cars they stop on a dime, and it takes some serious torque to do a brakes stand they dont bust loose like the drums. So what did the Judge's have for a Carb a big Q-Jet?

Keith I think the centers are the same and i think the axles are as well but not sure as I have not played with the disc cars enough. Post the question in both the suspension section and the 79 TA section and you will get a better answer as I am sure there is someone who has dealt with that. I am trying to deal with the great Carb fiasco right now, Tom looked at this expensive Carb that I got and it is a restamp. Mark

Holley's do suck, But some people love them, of course some people love th350 as well. There a guy in nh who has the posi diff and 3.23 gears for 370 bucks seems cheap enough, I believe the 10 bolts have the slide on bearings cant remeber though, Where there different spline axle for the disc rear's ? or where they all the same? Well I put a add on looking for a 3.23 posi unti I have a had 3 offered so far. Need to look into shipping one isnt far its in western MAss. I am surprized that old 301 had 70k miles left in it. I took the holley of the 455 and put an edelbrock on that made a huge diffrence but its still not a barn stormer until 30 mph or so.
