I love the combo. Lots of low end grunt all the way up to 5k. The 268 has a nice lope at idle. I do run 93. I also had .065" shaved on those 6x-4s. That puts me right at 9.2:1.

Hi, I'm trying to sort out my engine combo for my 64 Lemans. I'm going to run a Tri-Power. I'm really leaning towards building an engine similar to what you have. 400 with 6X-4s shaved ??? thousandths with a XE 268 or XE274 cam. I just want a street cruiser, no racing. I have a 4 speed and 2.93 posi.

Are you happy with your combo? What kind of fuel mileage do you get on the highway? Can you run 87 or 89 octane? Or do you have to run 92/3?
