I bought the car about 10 years ago with the trans already in it. By the way it shifts it feels like a stock rebuild or at the most only mildly modified. The car has a stock rebuilt 421 4bbl motor. The car is a cruiser not a racer so it has not had a lot of hard abuse. I have a supercharged GTO for that. I have had race cars in the past making 400-500 hp that have used modified Turbo 350's with no problem. A stock T350 will live very well (if in god condition) under normal street use. This message board won't let me include more so if you have questions email me. goatracer1@aol.com

I am new to PY Forum. I have recently purchased a 64 Grand Prix and like most, I hate the Slim Jim transmission. I’ve been considering various alternatives. I see in one of your posts that you have a Turbo 350 in yours. I know they can be built to handle 400 hp. With my low numeric rear ratio, I believe 2.72, I’m not sure I need overdrive.

How has your experience been? I’m not sure about the size of the T350, but will it fit in the trans tunnel? I’m guessing it’s smaller than the T400. Any info or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Randy.
