    Thanks to all for the info regarding fan clutch. Talked to Steve at Pontiac Heaven who is here in Arizona and has been running Pontiacs in this extreme heat for years.He turned me on to the fan clutch he uses. It is durelast part number 22045 available at AutoZone for around $ 60. Installed--- problem solved. If anyone hasn't looked online at Pontiac Heaven it's worth looking at.
