1965 Pontiac 421 HO Engine Tri-Power, Factory "Long Branch" headers, 4-Bolt Mains, Ram Air III, IV, Complete new rebuild.

For sale is a complete, rare, 1965 Pontiac 421 HO engine complete with factory Tri-Power (3-duces), cast iron "Long Branch" headers and all of the small factory parts that complete the HO option package. The engine has a fresh overhaul and has never been in a car or started since finished. The machine work and assembly was done by Jess Miller of West Chester, PA. Jessie and company are a world-class machine shop and have been building race engines for over 30 years. Miller is considered to be the best in the business and his engines are in winners' circles around the country. This 421 did not get a typical "overhaul", but was rebuilt to the highest standards. There are absolutely NO REPRODUCTION OR FORGIEN PARTS used in this engine build. All of the parts used here are NOS or NORS. Except for the original factory castings, everything that went into the engine was NEW.

MACHINE WORK:

1, Bored .030 over. 2. Block decked. 3. Line bored 4-bolt mains. 4.Heads resurfaced. 5. Intake and exhaust ported and polished to flow 240 CFM on intake side. 6. Rotating assembly balanced within racing specs. 7. Three angle valve seats. 8.

NEW PARTS INSTALLED:

1) Ram Air IV #39794041 cam, (advertised duration intake, 308. exhaust, 320. Lift intake, 516. exhaust, 516. with .065 rockers. Centerline intake 112, exhaust 115.) 2) Ram Air IV valve springs, RAIV push rods and anti-pump lifters, GM valves, RAIV .065 rockers. 3) 1973-74 Pontiac Super Duty forged connecting rods. 4) Sealed Power forged aluminum pistons. 5) New GM baffled oil pan. 6) New Melling 60 lb. high volume oil pump. 7) All new fasteners. 8) Fel Pro gaskets. 9) NOS water pump. 10) New PVC valve. 11) Cloyes double roller timing chain.

MISCELLANEOUS:

1. The cylinder heads on this engine are the 1970 D-port RA III / H.O. # 12, 72cc units. The casting numbers 12 have been removed from the center exhaust ports. The area where the numbers were removed has been retextured. This was done so the heads would resemble the original 093 heads that came on the 1965 421. These performance heads have been expertly ported to flow around 240 CFM on the intake side. The exhaust side flows the appropriate percentage of the intake side. 2. The cam was degreed in to the right specs. 3.The factory Tri-Power intake system consists of the correct numbers matching original carbs. The linkage and fuel lines are original factory pieces. The carbs have NOT been rebuilt or restored. However there are 3 Borg-Warner correct rebuild kits included with the engine. There are 3 new paper air cleaners on the engine and the original backing screens for the stock foam air filters are included. The correct water neck is in place. The intake manifold has been port matched to the ported heads. 4. The "long branch" H.O. exhaust manifolds are original 1965 factory units and include the correct flanges. They have been coated with Eastwood's high temp exhaust paint. The oil filter adaptor that is needed to off-set the filter to clear the H.O. exhaust manifold is an original factory unit and is installed on the engine. 5. The factory air cleaner lids and valve covers have been rechromed to show quality. 6. The engine is "brand new" and never started since it was extensively rebuilt. It has been correctly estimated to make in the 500 horsepower range with more than that figure in torque.
