I’ve often used the 262 as alternate on engines that were built with 268’s and never had any issue with performance or drivability. The only real difference is that hot idle vent thingy on the back....

Alternator bracket is specific to manual steering applications. The tube for the wires is , iirc, factory in 69 but I’m not 100% sure as I’m away in vacation.

Here is the untouched low mile engine in my 69 Exec wagon. In general I'd say that the 67-70 Pontiac engine paint we all have used for years has too much silver and not enough aqua in it.
