From a performance standpoint, a properly selected quality torque converter can be THE biggest performance improvement you can make - on a naturally aspirated motor. Way bigger than gears or headers.

We had a customer come in here summer before last who had just installed a custom built 406 in his T/A, backed it up with a Hughs GM 25 converter and TH350 transmission. He was NOT overly pleased...
