With 3.08's and second gear that's a ton of wheel speed, almost like scating on ice at that point. The rear of the car may drift where ever it wants lol.

Doubtful there is any real cure for it...

Me personally, I prefer a return line the full length of the car, which means my return style regulators are always mounted...

Na, been doing it for many years that way, doesn't matter how hot it gets here, 105-110-115+ degrees outside and it never causes an issue with heat soak or vapor lock, even with the junk 91 pump gas...

I always use the lubed lifters on flat tappets solid and hydraulic. Just piece of mind for me. But if you already have a set of Johnson lifters I'd use those and roll with it.

I've run the Napa echlin stuff that works fine. My go to was always accel when I can find it but the last couple of tune ups I used MSD.

Never had an issue with any of those choices, all brass...
