FWIW, 71-74 M21 HD have the T400 yoke output shaft, and the fine spline input shaft. Also rumored to be stronger than a standard M21, (better alloy in the gears) hence the HD designation. I had one...

t10 also has a turbo 400 size output shaft most muncies are the smaller output shaft so you will have to change the driveshaft yoke also.

If it's just plain old bare steel it probably should get some kind of coating, but some repro gas tanks are made of terne metal which is corrosion resistant.
