Please do not restore this car. The original patina that it has is priceless. Congratulations on your purchase.

I am the proud new owner of this rare car. The search for the right 69 t/a took awhile. This car will be driven and possibly restored in the future. For now the original engine will be going to Butler to rebuild and will be back in the car by spring. This is my first post on this site ,but I am sure there will be many more. Thanks John :)

I wasn't going to say anything until John posted but it's true, it will be living in the frozen Michigan U.P.

It is going to a great guy who has an appreciation for original muscle cars, he has quite a little stable already. Unfortunately, he got hooked on "me too" Chevrolets, but I think this car will fix that. :)

I will keep all of my pictures posted at the picasa links and I will add any pictures John sends to me.

I certainly hope those pics continue to help with as many restorations as possible.

So, I am currently birdless but that never lasts long.;)

Congratulations John on buying what almost everyone here wished they could.

Please keep up up to date with the progress and showings of your truly unique piece of automotive beauty and history.

So Richie, is a '68 Ram Air II convertible Firebird in a barn on your radar? If you found the unobtainable '69 Trans Am, surely you can find that bird.:D
Please keep your picassa account open, PLEASE.

John,

Congrats on the find. Dont take it down to Georges or it will leave a trailer queen.

John,

Nice buy...a "lifetime" car for sure.

You also managed to get a great PY user name too, surprising that it was available!

nice car

Firebob 02-11-2011 03:53 AM

Hey Mike,
Do you know if the underside of a TA hood was painted with splatter paint like the trunk comp. was? I'm going to have to go back and look through all of Richie's hood pics to make sure what I'm doing.

Robert

Underside of hood was not splatter paint like the trunk - it was underhood black like the firewall, fenderwells, and core support.

Firebob 02-13-2011 07:11 PM

Thanks Boss. Somebody must've thought it would look good on there.

Was the original owner of this car a teacher in Iona, california?

fbirdinconcord 08-15-2013 05:29 PM

No, he was a longtime Chevron employee.
