I’d bet there’s a much bigger market for this part than anyone realizes based on how many have posted interest.

*Update* Last company bailed on me after several months of effort on my behalf for this project throughout the winter so I have moved onto another. It is amazing on how many do not feel this is worth their time or effort. Their default answer is "we are a production facility and this does not fit well for us". One would think that they could make that determination long before dragging it out for several months. I have a front bumper ready to go to this week for final dimension clean-up. I have provided all the information they requested thus far and am taking them hard parts to confirm accuracy to finalize. I am doing what I can and have not lost sight of the end goal. Stay tuned.

Progress made, baby steps. Waiting on quote for raw materials, availability and pricing is a challenge right now.

If your able to get this made with near correct material vulcanized over steel core, that would be fantastic!!!

69 FB 400 Nose Emblem Repro
I'm waiting to hear the latest from Tom John who last posted on this subject on April 21, 2022. TJ has been trying to find a reproduction source for some time, and was making progress as of last post.

All, I have not dropped the ball on this, still very active but it has surely been an uphill battle. I have had multiple irons in the fire for a long time and most of them have not panned out. Low production numbers seem to scare off the folks I have reached out to. I am trying...and will share the good news when able to do so.

*UPDATE*
NOS emblem shipped out (again) to be scanned, talked with firm commissioned to scan and we had a very good conversation with the part in their hands. Before sending out I test fit the NOS emblem on a factory original front bumper, two different bumpers actually and it fit fairly well but it did have some “wiggle” and inconsistent gap (s) around the perimeter and that could be from 50+ years of sitting on the shelf in a box, the emblem may have shrunk, warped, bumper inconsistencies', etc. and or they just fit like that from day one. So tomorrow morning I am driving three hours one way down state to hand deliver two factory bumpers (for comparison) to have them scanned so the “B” side of the emblem fits the profile best as possible. We are also going to look at a possible improved installation retention system for the mounting studs. Reason for doing so is to simplify the manufacturing process. For the main body "A" side we are looking at multiple resins, fillers, urethanes, carbon fibers, plastics, fiberglass’s, heat ranges (to prevent warping), U.V. tolerant, impact resistance, Paints (color retention), etc. there is way more going on to make this part than one realizes. Plus trying to keep the part reasonable in cost for such a low production item. I will share more as things progress forward. Thank You. Tim |
Awesome Tim. Great stuff. Good luck!!

Man you're going the extra 10 miles. Good follow up, thank you.
|
Appreciate the effort on this... you rock.

I think the efforts will be worth it for a lot of us who’d love a good repro.. Thanks!!
|
thank you for doing this

*UPDATE*
Left home at 4:15am this morning to head down state to meet with the scanner. We went over multiple details with the NOS emblem I shipped earlier, the NOS emblem has several cracks on the "A" surface so he took multiple scans of the face and then reassembled the surface to close the crack gaps via the computer software. We then took two original bumpers and scanned them to compare the bumpers against each other and then we compared the "B" side (Back) of the emblem to the bumpers and adjusted the emblem to fit like a glove (not OJ's). They are going to produce a prototype next week and I will head back down to confirm, discuss the path forward. So as of today, I am much further down this rabbit hole towards fruition than I have been since starting this journey. Stay tuned. A couple/few photos attached of prepping the bumpers for scanning, installation of GPS targets. Tim |

*UPDATE*
First "prototype" emblem is in the books as of today. Pleased overall but work to be done to clean up the edges, crisp up the lines, tweak the nose a smidgen and try again...progress being made, all in the right direction. Stay tuned... Tim |
