1969 Bonneville Ambulance I just picked up!
wyoming car, nice overall shape, going to drop in a 72 455/4 into it, get it road worthy, and go from there. no a/c, whuch is sort of a bummer for me.

Way cool....I have a nice 68 front bumper for that beast
|
68 is different than 69. thanks though. could use the rear bumper cover and a windshield for sure.
|
I like it.
Is the windsheild taller on that car than on a std production chassis? Some were. Mike |

Very cool!!!
|
That thing is cool! I'd hate to have to replace the glass for it though! Where would you even find it? From the pictures that one looks to be in real nice shape overall.:)
That one, and others I've seen, look like they were built from 4 doors rather than wagons. The 4 doors (and 2 doors!) were longer than the Bonnie wagons. |
I keep going back to the pics. Have you hooked up 12 volts at night yet?
|
That is an awsome Ambulance! Nice Score!
|
No a/c?? I guess in Wyoming it never gets hot enough to need a/c when transporting a patient?
Lets see some more pics of the interior and the various accessories. Did it come with a gurney? Was this mod done by Superior? |
That's Cool !!

Nice ride,
There is a perfect parts car sitting in Cedar Rapids, IA. I think it also needed a windshield. E-mail me at craig.cermak@civco.com if you want the info on it. I would try the PCS for a windshield. I think Superior used the same windshields for all of their hearses and limos (Pontiac and Cadillac) and they should be the same from 65-70. I have a 67 Bonneville Superior Seville Consort ambulance project and a 68 Bonneville hearse parts car. Both are stock wheel base. If you want to convert to factory AC I have a 69 Bonnie 4dr headed to scrap soon. If you some and pull the dash it's yours. Talk to you later. Carmak |
Awesome find
Wow, nice find!! Congratulations! Very nice shape it is in as well. I wish you luck in the search for the windsheild and other goodies. Your local truck stop may have your comercial flashers.
Can't wait to see you light 'er up at night. I also love your pic from "Two-Lane Blacktop". That Judge should have had as much, if no more, publicity as the '55.IMO |

Hi ,,, Just as a note if you ever need tail light lenses,, they are the same as a wagon of that year. My dad's 69 wagon has the same tail lights,,,,, cool amb. i got a 61 amb. ,,, just not that good of shape..
|
Cool, thanks for the tip.
Hopefully dropping in that 455 this saturday. The lights are very bright at night, lol! |
Dedsleds, You like large and sort of strange vehicles, don't you ?
That's OK, so do I :D I would love to own a hearse or an ambulance myself What are you going to do with this thing. If it were mine, I"d play doctor in the back I think. ;) :censored: |
LOL! YEP! NO IDEA, MAY SELL IT, PROBABLY GET IT ON THE ROAD AND KEEP IT FOR A BIT.
|
I'd be hauling the kids around in that thing on Halloween with them dressed up as Doctors or EMT's.

looks pretty nice!!!
|
Looks great. The interior is perfect. Wheres the motor?
|
somewhere in wyoming i guess, dropping in a 72 455 soon.
|
we got the engine dopped in today, had to swap out the driver's side exhaust man. for a 69 one i had laying around. the 72's man. will not clear the steering box. P.I.T.A! it's bolted in, we need to wire it up and gfet the driveshaft rebuilt.
|
I had one very much like that. it is a superior coach in case you do not know. Mine was a hearse ambullance combo. Which was even more rare. I found out after I sold it! it was worth a lot more than I sold it for. I just did not do my home work. Mine had a 428 in it and posi rear end no A/C either ! it must have been the thing back then.
|
|
wow..to replace the driveshaft u-joints and replace the center bearing it's going to cost 465.00. that bearing is hard to get, and they had to order it. wasn't expecting that.
|
threw on the trans shifter linkage and carb linkage. the other day. we need to figure out heater hose routing and wire this thing up.
|
Can't wait to see it on the road. I've always been a hearse/ambulance fan. I ended up with the '67 Cutlass Supreme convertible I have now when I stopped in a junkyard near Emporia, VA to look at an old Poncho hearse they had out front. The hearse was too far gone for me, but the Cutlass worked out pretty good. :)

Why do I suddenly find myself having an uncontrollable urge to watch "Ghostbusters"?

http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/729/1595928tn7.jpg http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/2682/1595929ua1.jpg this center bearing assembly cost 225.00! it's the more rarer one i was told. lucky me  !
repairs to the siren "becon" light ring (thanks to my friend Ray Prescaro co worker, mechanic friend, at waste management. http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/810/1595927kx2.jpg |

My new favorite thread! Have you considered Rallye Wheels?
It should definitely be the keg wagon at Poncho get-togethors..... |
THANKS!
ya i have a set of 15x7 that need blasting, and i have a nicer set of 15x6 that are nice driver bolt on quality. was just going to run the original wheels, i painted gloss white, and throw on the hubcaps. the caps don't go all the way to the edge, so there would be a white ring showing. the problem is the d-shaft cost so much that i am putting off buying new tires right now. whitewalls on there now are usable but a little old. |
my friend ray installed the siren light with the reapir ring that held it all together, changed the gear lube and found out it is a 3.08 posi, installed the driveshaft.

You think the driveshaft price is bad, just hope you don't have ever have to replace the front windshield.
|
LOL! I DO, IT IS CRACKED! LEAVING IT FOR NOW. ERIC
|
"Just to let you know the car is orgianly from deerlodge, montana. We never had the orgianal motor/tranny." ......just found this out today from the guys i bought the ambulance from. i didn't know that.
|
That's cool. And I can remember a time when noone would be caught dead with a station wagon let alone a hearse or ambulance. My how times have changed. There was a 72 ? maybe 73 Pontiac ambulance here in Southgate but I have'nt seen it in a while. I have two 1973 Vista Cruisers myself along with my 78 Catalina.
|
There is one like that in Regina Saskatchewan Canada...same color and everything, but not as good of shape, buddy was driving it around over a year ago, lately I haven't seen it. Also there is a black 69 Hearse in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, 428 YH car rusted in a backyard, buddy was asking 3000$ for it which was too much in my oppinion. Didn't all these Superior sleds came with 428s ? Great find !
