Agreed, gives the '72 GTO a very unique and aggressive look. A reproduction is cureently available, but Bill Nicholson (aka BN on PY) purchased one and installed it on his '72 455HO LeMans, and told me that it needed a BUNCH of work to fit properly. I bought one when they first came out, but it won't be on my GTO for quite some time. Maybe Bill will stop by and offer more details on the fitment issues.

I bought the first one on an auction from The Parts Place when they first came out. I started to put it on myself and then saw it needed a lot of modification. I located a guy near me who had a 70 GTO that was featured in the Herding Goats book years ago. His 70 had a 72 ducktail that he made by making a mold from one of the originals so he knew these things. He had the car for about three weeks grinding here and adding there. It came out good though, I'll try to post a picture. My car is a convertible so maybee the hardtops are different?

Bill, you hit the nail right on the head - convertible quarter panels are shaped slightly differently than the hardtop quarters. Hopefully that means MY spoiler will require less "massaging" than yours did!

Oh, and Bill, I'll take the liberty of posting this pic for you!

Thanks Lloyd for posting the picture. The hardtop and convertible spoiler are two different spoilers so maybe the hardtop is better. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has bought one.

Oooooooooh, Is that a GTO or a Lemans? Either way, a POST car.....RARE. If it's a GTO, then it's really rare...what is that, one of like 10 or so?

This was found at the Kirkland, WA Costco (the one that started it all...). The 72 was worn, but very original 400 auto with practically no options. I left a note, but never a reply- no doubt some 55 y.o. woman who papers her walls with offers to buy.

I love your car the best though....those color combos are AWESOME! those the original color/stripe combo? I like the hood vents and spoiler color too...really adds to the car. Man!

Those are two of the best looking 72 GT converts I've ever seen! The Yellow one is very sharp, and my only wish is they would have put the correct 72 exhaust in it for the money. I think they also didn't paint the hood scoops inserts black like all ram air cars did or add the decals either. The White and Gold winged GT is especially well appointed.

Can Wagner's classic get the money? I think they have over priced cars before and let some go for next to nothing. They sold a numbers matching Black 4-speed car RA IV Judge with PHS and other documents for like 30K a couple of years ago. A very well restored 71 Judge that was in a car museum for 80K. Probably cost 80k for the resto, so they got the Judge for free? I bet this car will be on ebay soon, and won't get close to 100k.

PB, RE the Wagners LeMans GT. Several things are wrong with the car and for that price it should be PERFECT. It isn't. Check out several of the pictures. Intake manifold is NOT painted and should be. Does not say LeMans anywhere on it and should on trunk lid. Does not state PHS docs yet on another car they say it does have them. Didn't post vin. Must have X in vin. Some other stuff too. I posted on the Yenko site about it. Quite a discussion there on this particular car. Would like to see if it is one that I have a record of on Dan Jensen's HO registry. Also should it not say Ram Air on the hood?

The Sundance one is in Canada.White top +int.

Jack, yup, I noticed a few of those items too, I have been in the middle of a move, and I hope to get a better look at this car soon. Agreed, for that price, it should be PERFECT (stressed perfect!) Don't think it's worth that much Jack, but hey, maybe someone will! I know the owner of the dealership, hopefully he will be there and I can get a better background on this car. Jack, your not kidding that there is quite a discussion going on the yenko site. If they could quit fighting over the 455 emblem maybee they could get onto the rest of the car.

Thanks Jack! I just got back from seeing the car. Boy, it sure is nice! It indeed has the X in the VIN. I took Pictures of the build sheet too. There are some incorrect items on the car: Fender vents are circular mesh, not square, the crossover looks to be missing, aluminum sticker on the radio knob area in the bezel, center console lid has no button, some cosmetics on the grills: placement of the pontiac but hey, who notices that stuff anyway? http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif
