The GTO concept has a 6.3-liter V-8 engine with 500 horsepower at 5200 rpm and 500 lb.-ft. of torque at 5000 rpm. It also has a six-speed manual transmission, modified brakes, bigger wheels and tires and new exhaust. The bright orange exterior features a new hood, fender, quarter panel, spoiler, front and rear fascia and rockers.
The modified GTO is an "Employee Enthusiasm" vehicle, an internal volunteer program that gives younger GM engineers the opportunity to manage a concept car from start to finish. The first public showing for the concept GTO will be at a Woodward Dream Cruise press conference at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 17 at Pioneer Park in Royal Oak. They will then be on display at Athens Coney Island throughout the Cruise. |

Still only one exhaust pipe? The front end does look great though.
|
That car looks awesome. Well now I can sleep
it doesn't look like the 60's GTO. That would have been a shame. |

looks like a mustang with the scoop in front of the rear wheel. but a lot better then the 04. but not as good as it should .
|
i hear capacity is 389cubes, im just picturing it... 500hp , 500 tq..
the scoops, the bulges, the dish on the rims... awesome... I LOVE IT !!! |
Wow! I like it! Love the front end and other body work. It does look like a 94-98 Mustang on the sides but that's ok. If this is the direction they are going, I would definately buy one in 3-4 yrs when I'm out of college. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif

I like it, it kind of looks like a cross between the '99 Concept GTO and the '04 GTO.

From my wife:
'It looks ok but not muscle enough, it should be bigger. It's like the mini versions of muscle cars. I guess there are plenty of small fast cars it just doesn't look like what I think a GTO should look like.' Ok, I think I'll have to take her to see an '04 again so she can see how big they really are. 'Mini version'? 'Mini version'?? I don't know, it's a modern GTO you can't expect it to look like a '69 (or '65, or '73...), but, I definitely like this better than the '04. I think the hood scoops need to be farther towards the front so they could be more effective, since it looks like it has a Ram Air intake. It needs to be more like the '99 Concept here. |

You know how everyone thinks it has 500HP ... Im here to tell ya it has MORE! http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_eek.gif

I'd sell vacuums door to door if I had to in order to get a car payment scraped up! That is hot! GM makes that and I won't be able to resist anymore.

But why not be real, it is becomming a Mustang clone. I think your eyes, or brain, is the one that needs checking.... :eek |
Well they are both 2 door coupes, I'll give you that GH.
|
|
I like it. Hopefully some one at GM will look at the positive comments the car is sure to generate and use it in the future. Building a great car is not rocket science. Get the consumer involved in the process and they will tell you exactly what they want.

79, I like it too, but these guy's just can't face reality. It does look a lot like a Mustang...I never said that was bad, now did I? http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_rolleyes.gif |

The car looks better in stock form every time a new pic pops up. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_razz.gif
|
Can't they come up with something a little more original. Although, I dig the motor. Have you seen the new issue of Popular Hot Rodding. That Horton guy did a concept of a new GTO next to a new Charger. Looks good. Better than the orange car.
|
got a scan?
|
Hmmm - I have to admit I like the muscular rear haunches on this version, but the whole thing looks a little "boy racer" (or is that "ricer") to me. I could probably live with it (heck, I've owned 3 Firebirds), but this entire direction (stylistically) seems to contradict with Pontiac's stated intent to compete in the BMW arena. BMW drivers aren't going to like the gee whiz styling, and a younger buyer who might now be intrigued by it doesn't have $30K+ to fork over for it. Come to think of it, wasn't this the same type of marketing that helped kill the Firebird - powerful, look-at-me, look-at-me styling, and a price tage that few folks interested in "look-at-me" styling could afford?
