I forgot to say that Outlaw 10.5 is a 1/8 mile race.

Mike Davis 06-17-2005 10:25 PM

Congrats Jack- did the sale price just go up?

Wareagle 06-17-2005 10:28 PM

Awesome-Congrats Jack --one wicked Goat http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_cool.gif. Thanks for the videos FishStang http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif.

10secbird 06-17-2005 10:50 PM

Awesome - what is Lil Jacks best 1/4 mile time?
I dont know much about 1/8 mile drags.

rumair 06-17-2005 11:08 PM

based on what he runs in the 1/4 mile i'd guess 5.60's in the 1/8 on a good track.

PMDRACER 06-17-2005 11:23 PM

In that 2nd round win, did the other car tag the wall?

grandville455 06-17-2005 11:28 PM

Awesome...man that car launches!! Congrats!!!!

Brian Baker 06-18-2005 05:39 AM

Jack's been 8.60's in the 1/4. Congrats' Jack! This is no small accomplishment as these boys that run at 75-80 are fast. Typically you have to run a low 5 to be competitive and 4.90's to win, but it just goes to show that when the track ain't just right, the fast guys ain't so fast anymore. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif

Brian Baker 06-18-2005 05:42 AM

Fish' the first 2 rounds, what happened to the video after the launch?

How many cars made the call to 1st round? What was Jack's take home winnings? With a full field they usually pay $1000 to win.

The first vid, I got hit by the car behind me, backing up into the water box, and that made me hit the stop button, but there were so many people at the starting line, I was getting pushed around. I had my little camera, but I snaped a wire on it when I was setting it up on Jack's car.

It was a full 12 car field and they also had a few cars in slOwPS. LiLJerk took home a grand last night. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_eek.gif

lethal-428-lemans 06-18-2005 07:01 AM

Great job Lil jack, you made that look easy http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_cool.gif

What track was that? Where is it at?

Fish 06-18-2005 07:10 AM

The track is 75-80 Dragway in Monrovia, Maryland.

Brian Baker 06-18-2005 08:04 AM

Wow! A cool grand is nice. You guys get loaded after the race last night? I would have.

Now Jack...what's it worth to you for me not to tell your wife. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif Fish' you can get in on this action too. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_razz.gif

75-80 will be closing after this season. Rumor has it they're going to build some type of senior citizen retirement home on it.

Fish 06-18-2005 08:17 AM

Dawn (Mrs.LilJack) was at the track last night....

LiL Jack 06-18-2005 08:23 AM

What a night! The fastest it ran last night was a 5.59 in the eighth. About 150 feet out there was a slick spot in the right lane and it only ran 70s but thats all it needed to win.

The second pass aginst Mobley, I cut a better light then he did .534 to a .545 but he started to spin around 330 mark and looks like he went off the track a little bit with all the dust flying and I went by him as we BOTH ran 5.88.

I heard Mobley was extremely pissed. And the last pass the camaro broke the tranny, it just goes to show ya consistence is sometimes better.

Brian I told my wife already, so ya can't hold that against me http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif

Mike, yea the price just went up http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif

Thanks to all.

there was a slew of pontiac guys up there, the told me the announcer said that my car was pontiac powered.

LiL Jack 06-18-2005 08:27 AM

Ohh, and awesome videos.

Polar-Pontiac 06-18-2005 08:30 AM

Killer Launches
Nice wheelstands
That Lil' GTO flies
Way to go!

Thanks for yet even more great vids Fishstang !!

Brian Baker 06-18-2005 09:02 AM

Piss on Mobley. That whole deal with him is an ego-trip anyway. All that money in his car and tow rig for a $1000 purse? Purse has nothing to do with it, it's all ego. Top Dog at 75-80, but any place else in the southeast and he'd have a hard time making the bottom half of the field.

Herb Hagan 06-18-2005 09:09 AM

Way to go Jack! Dam, wish I could have been there, but the clips Fish provided will have to do. Nice Job guy's http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif

Herb

cmpgto 06-18-2005 09:23 AM

Last night was awesone Jack was the underdog pretty much all night. One camaro (Mobley's) hadn't run slower than a 4.96 the other camaro hadn't run slower than a 5.14 all night. By the final round Jack became the crowd favorite. As a side note I believe Mobley's camaro holds the 10.5 record with a 4.54
Congrats Jack

Fish 06-18-2005 10:02 AM

When is Jack going to take us out for some beers???

74t/a 06-18-2005 12:30 PM

You boys ought to come to the south. Down here the outlaw cars are consitantly running 4.70's and the record is 4.51 at over 160mph.

rumair 06-18-2005 12:39 PM

to be competitive around these parts you gotta be in the 4's.

Will Pontiac powered cars be competitive in this class with the new Tiger Heads?

As well, Jack's race weight is 3550#, how much are the other guys weighing in at?
The NSCA event last week was loaded with 600+ CID motors in Jack's class.
And another thing, you guys down south mainly run 1/8 mile, we run the full 1/4, so gearing plays into this equation as well.

Food for thought

Brian Baker 06-18-2005 01:49 PM

75-80's OPS rules:

General Rules

10.5 inch tires any make or 13.5 dot tires
"Run what you brung"
Pass NHRA safety rules
Street appearing - mufflers
Weight 3000 includes driver
Back half of cars only from stock front fire wall back.
Commercially available coil over conversions allowed. After market spindles allowed as long as they bolt to stock or after market control arms. Strut or shock towers required but can be notched for header clearance. Relocating of strut towers not allowed. Note: There can be suspension components mounted to or hung from roll bar tubing.
4/10 pro tree start
No deep staging
No heating NOS with torch

Lil' Jack is giving up quite a bit in the weight department, about 500 lbs. I think.

The "street appearing" aspect they may as well throw out, as some of the faster cars are pretty outrageous looking with their carbon-fiber injector hats sitting at or above the roofline.

Brian Baker 06-18-2005 01:50 PM

Joe Deyton I believe has been 5.40's with his Firebird at 75-80, but I haven't seen or heard much from him of late.

cmpgto 06-18-2005 02:28 PM

Most of the cars weight under 3000lbs so they can put the weight where they need it. As far as motors go, there are several 600+ cubic/inch motors & 2 or 3 700+ cubic/inch motors.

6567GTO 06-18-2005 02:48 PM

Awesome! Way to go Lil Jack! http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_cool.gif

When I was teching my car in I asked the guy where the scales were at? He told me that they wern't going to weigh them tonight http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_eek.gif

Mobleys got a 710 with 4 systems on it.He probably has more in his motor then I do in my car.

74t/a 06-18-2005 07:47 PM

Someone needs to step up and twin turbo an IA2/superchief or maybe a better head and build an oulaw car with that. All it takes is about 22-2400hp to win these races.

I went to a race 2 weeks ago and the cars were doing 1.08-1.12 short times.....running 4.64-4.71 times for the 16 car field. I am not currently running, but will be soon. I am building a new 25.2 chassis at the shop right now. I am building a customer's 598 twin 88mm turbo BBC for a 67 chevy II. The 598 has gone 4.71 on 2 systems, just not fast enough for a win. So, off comes the intake and pistons come out for flat tops.....and the work begins.

It is a real accomplishment to be outgunned and win.

Nice work!

rumair 06-19-2005 09:35 AM

call me crazy, but at 3000 lbs. you should have the ability to move enough weight around to make a pontiac competitive under the rules baker posted.

if jack lost 500 pounds this week he'd probably run 30's right off the trailer without touching the tune up.

Paul Spotts 06-19-2005 10:19 AM

nice job Jack!

jimmys 06-19-2005 10:32 AM
