1972 pontiac lemans

I was a 17 year old woman back in 1990 or so..

I was buying my first car, I had no idea what I wanted.

Low and behold I cam a cross a 1972 pontiac lemans in metallic silver paint with a new vinyal top.

I was blow away.

Being a bit manic I bought the car before I even knew if it started or not -thank god it did....

http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif

1,500.00 dollars later I drove away -it can be seen here:

http://www.geocities.com/brandi_hunting/index1.html

scroll down

anyway

My drunk buddy smashed into my beloved lemans and it was totalled.

i was heart Broken.

and car less.

ANYWAY

forward to April 2005

Financal and health problems (manic depressive illness and panic attacks) got in the way of getting a new lemans, or even a GTO, in fact.

however:

I used my whole college loan to buy this 1971 Lemans GT-37

I own a 2001 Grand AM also.

Anyway, I drive the grand am as I restore my beloved lemans.

I will post pics after I get it painted

(along with before and after pics)

Its gona look KICK ASS when Im done.

(and my college loans are drained...LMAO)

Thanks for reading!!!

After seeing that, I want them rims!!

Are them Ralley II's?

The car looks awsome!

Brandi Kay 04-26-2005 07:03 PM

I just noticed that you dont have the long, chrome side panels that go under the doors and fender and up to the back wheel?

Ive not seen a lemans like that.

It gives the body more of a cool curve

did you do this intentionally?

lethal-428-lemans 04-26-2005 07:54 PM

Thanks Brandi,
Yes I took all the wheel well molding off & the long rocker chrome. It also had the Chrome with rubber center all the way down the body sides in the middle. I took it all off and welded all the holes shut to give it a smooth look. I might shave the door handles off too in the near future.

The wheels are rally II's, I just blasted them clean then painted them to match. The silver spoke part has 4 different colors of pearl in the shimmers different colors like the phantom flames on the hood & sides. I used the colors like the judge stripes would be. red, blue, violet&pink.

Here is a pic of the Wheel. still hard to see all the color that shimmers in them in a pic.

Brandi Kay 04-26-2005 07:57 PM

I can see what you mean.

I think it looks awsome!

lethal-428-lemans 04-26-2005 07:59 PM

Less chrome to clean too http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif

Nice rides here ! Now if I can just get my 69 Firebird painted !

beamy45 04-28-2005 04:11 AM

brandi, your lemans looks killer in the pic. how were you able to use the college loan to pay for it? i dont understnad how that works.

Brandi Kay 04-28-2005 01:17 PM

that lemans in the pic with my sister holding a guitar was back in 1992.

I haven posted a pic of my new lemans, I will as soon as its painted.

how the loan works:

I goto college free on the scholarships and grants.

I then take out college loans to pay for my pontiac.

http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...on_biggrin.gif

The college loan is about 1.5 to 2.5 % interest.

The college loan is posta be for living expenses, ie apartment food etc, but I also work and that pays my rent and food. etc...

beamy45 04-28-2005 01:33 PM

77 Formula 350/auto blue/blue

Blew the motor the first day I had it racing a Porche 911 down I-91.

Two weeks later it had the 400 out of my next door neighbor's wreaked 69 GTO in it.....would have beat the Porche with that one!

My first car (truck) was a 1984 Bronco with a 460CI motor and she had a 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift. The tires were 38" radial Cepeks. I got the truck new and lifted it the day after I bought it. I added the 460 after I blew the 351 muddin' it too hard.

I found this truck on the Internet a few years ago.. I've been in love with it ever since...

I think getting a trailer hooked up to it might be an issue.

My first car (1968) was a 1960 Chrysler Windsor. About 40 feet long with big fins. 383 4bbl with a pushbutton automatic. Car was built in Mexico and had a metric speedometer that went to 220 (KM) Most of my friends didn't understand the metric system an assumed it was MPH. Could hold 9 teenagers and peg the speedometer.

1986 Buick Park Avenue. Dark Metallic Blue, Wrong Wheel Drive, 100% velour, very plush, power everything. Very odd car for a 16 yr old back in 1994, but it was a lovely ride nonetheless!

My LeMans as of last week:
Almost done with the cosmetics, just need to install the Moldings around the windshields and do some detail work...

Brandi,

If you were complimenting me, thanks! If not, then I'm sure the care you were referring to is beautiful. It has to be if it's a 72 LeMans! :D

"Lucretia" is the fruit of countless hours of labor and I'm not done yet. At least the costmetic restoration is almost complete. I've been restoring her on and off for two years and I'm almost done! I've had the car since 1998. This is what she looked like back around early 2003, about 8 months before I parked her for restoration. Anyway, It's been a wonderful project and I have lots more planned for her.

Thanks again!

Brandi Kay 08-31-2005 03:29 PM

yes I was referring to your car

blue w/white strips, white top, black interior bench seat. It was a great car in beautiful shape. Still know where the car is, I'd love to purchase the car but I still like my 67 Lemans convert. better but doesn't have the sentimental value that Chevelle does.

66 Corvair

My first car was a 66 Corvair. 4 speed 140 4 carb engine. My Corvair hobby ended with a crown kit. 327 in the back seat. Lowered with widened 15x9 corvette ralleys. It was very fast, Very fun and broke alot of parts!

First car(1974) was a 1964 Dodge Dart slant six with a pushbutton automatic. I inherited it when Mom got a new Impala. my first REAL car was a 1967 Pontiac Lemans...gold with black buckets and console. Stock when I got it...it was beautiful. Drove it all through high school. Gradually added Keystone Klassic wheels, headers, and duals with cherry bomb glasspacks(hey...it's 1975...glasspacks are COOL!) and a GTO hood I found in the same color. Traded it for a big-block '72 Chevelle in college. To this day that's the one car that I've regretted letting get away. BUT...I have found a near exact copy rotting away in a back yard here in town. Owner won't sell...yet. He's "Gonna fix her up one of these days." How many times have you heard THAT one? Gonna keep hounding him though...

Sidenote; Wife's first car was a "70 lemans, green with green buckets and console. She had it when I met her at Burger Chef(Remember those?)in high school. To this day she says that I was more attracted to the car than her at first. NOT TRUE...HONEST!

'70 TA

I saw the body profile in an auto trader and it was love at first sight.
Had a fender bender on the way home from the purchase ($1600 in
1980) and totalled it a year later.
Didn't faze me though. Have had six (70-73) since and currently
own two (71).

Absolutely my favorite car ever produced.

My first car was a 1982 Trans Am I fell in love with the 82 becouse of Knight Rider and had to get one. I keep the car for 12 years then I saw a picture of a 1969 Trans Am and knew I had to get one. So I sold the 82 to help pay for the 69 TA.

fastbarge421 09-29-2005 01:17 PM

My first was a '63 Impala convertible, black w/white top and red interior that I transplanted a 396/325 in place of the orginal 283. Exhaust "system" was stock manifolds, 409 headpipes, and 18" glasspacks, period. Wish I had it back...Maybe that's why my Pontiac is a 2+2 and not a GTO. I love B-bodies with muscle.

I paid $300 for it the summer before highschool. I didn't have it even a week, when an airman from Malmstrom AFB walked up to me at a gas station and offered me $1000. thet felt pretty good.

Ended up driving it for two years, then trading it in on a 72 Chevy pickup.
