I got ready for the races and they were cancelled due to weather. So I took some pictures of my car. It's been 1 1/2 years since I've gotten to race it. I just finished the sheet metal work. It was pretty hard to do- Wish I were racing! Oh well here are some pictures.
This would also be a good time to thank those on this board that helped me with some exellent parts a good prices.

Nice looking sheet metal work...

I am in the same boat, Jan, Feb and Mar were busy enough to keep me from getting bored (5 or 6 races), especially after the engine in my truck bought the farm. I had a three day thrash to get it finished in order to make a race early in Mar. Now my car and my truck are ready to go without a scheduled race until 4/9...

At least the sun is shining, second day straight...

What's a "rim"?

bmpmdf 03-26-2005 10:22 PM

Who did the awesome job on the wheels? I like it !! And that is a nice interior too.

02Hawk 03-27-2005 12:40 AM

Kick ass car. love the quality of the interior work

gobrdgo 03-27-2005 01:42 AM

I like the wheels too, beautiful car. If the evolution continues I'll probably cut up my 70 someday too.

Thumpin455_GTO 03-27-2005 06:04 AM

Dont cut up a 70, 78-81's are more plentiful. I have an extra 81 TA that Would look great like that. The wheels are cool, possibly way heavy but cool none the less.

Is it full frame now? Was it a kit or home fab? How heavy is it now?

Here is what I have to work with:

http://www.3rdgen.org/bb/attachment....&postid=338646

UR2L8 03-28-2005 05:46 PM

The wheels were done in sothern California. I can't remember where. It's been about 5 or 6 years.
The black car is a 1964 Kellison it a fun car I just got.
The frame is two halves. The rear is 1 3/4 tubular and the front is 2x3. I call it frankinstien as much as I have cut it up.
Thank you for the complements. I was hoping to see some other pics of work you guys may have done, to learn how to do it better next time. Has any one done it before? I did the carpet deal to keep it quieter, but the carpet also is hiding some small mistakes that I didn't want to fix. It was a hard job and I was getting tired of it.

jusjay 03-28-2005 08:42 PM

We are currently waiting on a new set of KRE D-ports and the motor is not back together yet. We miss this years MM, but at least we went there with Jess Tyree. Next year for sure.

Jusjay that Tempest is sweet.

You guys have some nice rides.

UR2L8 03-28-2005 11:38 PM

Wolfs63- your picture didn't come up. I would love to see it. I've been looking for a 63 with no luck.
Jusjay- I think that tempest is awsome. What times does it run?
Don- I've seen your car posted before (in an exhaust related thread) I am very impressed with that thing! Your car is one of the few 3rd gen cars I like!

BAD10 03-28-2005 11:52 PM

Hey Jusjay, Where and who did you get your Tempest from? It looks like the Tempest that I painted for my friend Howard back in 1992. Did it used to have a white top?

lethal-428-lemans 03-29-2005 05:59 AM

Don,
What kind of headers are they? http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_confused.gif
They are the strangest looking (BUT) coolest headers I have ever seen.

jusjay 03-29-2005 08:14 AM

BAD10, same car. My partner, Bill McGloghlon has had the car for the last 4 years. We have made a number of modification to it to be more competive in D/Gas (GoodGuys). We currently have 6 pontiac between us. We also are a sponsor of Jess Tyree 63 pontiac B/Gas Tempest. That's our banner behind Jess's car.

Don Kennedy 03-29-2005 10:47 AM

The headers were made by Jack Davis in California . The real reason we ran the headers out the front was because at the time My car was build (it was the first GT car build) NHRA would not let us modify underneath so we just adapted ,now the modify is allowed ,any way I have dynoyed the headers many times and to my delight they are worth about 7hp over any other set that I have tried. I can change trans and convertors really quick also. LOL

BAD10 03-29-2005 10:53 AM

Thats cool. Small world!! I've got a bunch of before and after pictures of that car, as well as a copy of the magazine it was in back in the day when this guy Tom at my gym used to own it. He "built" the car but did it so 1/2 asssed that when my friend Howard bought it he redid everything correctly. It was jerry rigged so bad originally that it was unsafe.

burch 03-29-2005 10:59 AM

How about a picture of me running over the sidewall of my tires?

http://www.firebirdofdoom.com/photos/Misc/sows.jpg

I should have some decent drag racing photos sometime this weekend.

Here is a picture of the motor in my 64 tempest.

Don Kennedy 03-29-2005 12:11 PM

Yes My car was the very first one build. I wrote the rules for the GT class in the early 80's and sumitted them to NHRA and as they say the rest is history.

rumair 03-29-2005 09:34 PM

brian- i'll send you some pics of my engine on thursday...i don't think i have any of it in the car yet.

heck, it's rained here so much lately the car hasn't run in almost 3 weeks. they're calling for a 70% chance again this friday. on the upside, these recent rainouts have greatly increased my tolerance for alcohol consumption. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif
