Rex

Money Pit 05-07-2006 12:16 AM

Yeah, Lynn is right! I remember know in a old post, Ray saying he's using a 990 crank. Good in my book also , wish I had one!

Jeff

Money Pit 05-07-2006 12:19 AM

Also good to here Ray is up and running again!

Jeff

tempest455 05-07-2006 09:18 AM

I saw him and Langer both run yesterday. Both ran good. Langer's car sounds wicked for a NA motor.

larry davis 05-07-2006 10:06 AM

990 crank, JB welded on three journals.

rumair 05-07-2006 02:19 PM

looks like ray has made a respectable showing so far this weekend.

it must suck to run that quick and know you still need to find another two tenths to be near the top of the heap.

looks like langer has the pro stock field covered like a rug again. why so few cars in that class?

David Holmberg 05-07-2006 02:32 PM

Congrats Ray!

Too bad the top 5 are all in the .20's... :(

ANYTHING can happen in eliminations.

David Holmberg 05-07-2006 02:38 PM

Nice pass until the top end, I hope it didn't hurt anything.

LiL Jack 05-07-2006 05:22 PM

So, did he win $200??????

dutch injun 05-07-2006 05:36 PM

That "pontiac" video on NMCA LOL! That will be a cool match race at VMP for sure!

Jagtec1 05-07-2006 06:02 PM

I didn't know JC Penny sold motors??!! ;)

6567GTO 05-07-2006 06:39 PM

Awesome! Congrats to both guys.

David Holmberg 05-07-2006 06:41 PM

They added that clip after I posted, that was even better! :D

Pypes and Pontiacs in the park, nice plugs! ;)

I've been telling The Dude that the people at NMCA go out of their way to help promote anyone that runs with 'em.

Jim Zeek 05-07-2006 09:44 PM

Thanks for the plug John! I'll have some cold ones for you Friday night at VMP!

Rob B 05-08-2006 07:43 AM

PONTIAC DUDE 05-08-2006 08:53 AM

Just got off the phone with Ray. Says he's got more. Guess we will have to wait and see. ;)

Red lit first round. Something about his line lock and pushing threw when he staged or something., He will explain.

Region Warrior 05-08-2006 09:18 AM

Better there on the low end of the ladder, then broke or not even there at all.
Looks like he's past his prime though, driver error strikes again.

Region Warrior 05-08-2006 09:22 AM

Just got off the phone.
He prestaged 1st, and knew something was wrong. The car didnt want to more. So he gave it some more, and pushed thru the 2nd beam.
As he was recouping, the other guy staged and the tree came down.
Instant red light.

John Langer 05-09-2006 03:31 PM

That isn't excatly what happened. Ray did his burn out and never turn off the line lock. He was pushing the front tires up to the line. He gave it a little gas to get in the beams to stage becasue the car wasn't rolling that well. He drove in deep. The other guy waited like 10 seconds for him to back out but he didn't. The other guy staged and Ray left early, -.007 red. The car was popping and banging and wouldn't rev as he was going down the track. He was in and out of the throttle a few times and eventually got out of it and stopped on the track. He looked down to put the car in neutral and noticed that he never turned the line lock off and realized that the motor was hitting the burn out chip going down the track. Chalk it up to experience. I hope he works the bugs out before PIP or it will be really bad.

Region Warrior 05-09-2006 04:27 PM

Thanks John, i must have got the condensed version.
Wait till i see him:heh:

Better not have hurt the engine cause i'm boycott'n till mine's on the track.

Mike youve been at the trak and know we had problems with the line lock if you think about it for a minute you might remember that it didnt work all last year, and so I didnt use it, I just fixed it a few weeks ago and either I for got to turn it off or it stuck again whichever, dosent mater its been disconnected for a year maybee I just forgot it was fixed! you know how I am on the tree you see all the time slips, things happen!

Boycott? you couldnt take it to the track anyhow your still trying to get trailer titles arent you?

Region Warrior 05-10-2006 11:37 AM

I remembered while i was posting. Just figured you forgot or didnt fix it like you said.

Ya, ya, i know, along with a spare, straps, new helmet, etc, etc. Have alot to do and buy yet.

Remember, i have no new stuff. Maintain/repair/upgrade everything myself.
3 family cars(88,94,95), my 88 van, house built in 41, 2 lawn tractors(87&91)for 1.5 acre with over 70 trees and bushes. And i havent started the .25 acre garden yet.
Son plays premier soccer, so im gone every Sunday. Practice twice a week.
The F.D is trying to get me back involved...
Help others with cars, including you, so the FB's and trailer get neglected.

Region Warrior 05-10-2006 11:41 AM

I noticed the trailer's back in town.
I'll go over on lunch break and test the line lock for you:heh:

Turn off the line lock?....Pushbutton=no problem...toggle switch=problem. Why would you use a toggle switch for a line lock?

Brian Baker 05-12-2006 07:10 PM

I had a toggle switch for my line lock, but it was a no brainer. Couldn't mount it in the handle of my Winters shifter so I put it next to it in the "console". Aircraft style with the red flip-up safety cover. When cover was down, you knew the switch was off.

I'm running a Hurst button handle on a Megashifter. I wired up the nitrous and the line lock through a 3 way switch. When the switch is in the middle position, the button is disabled. With the switch down the button engages the line lock. With the switch up the button opens the nitrous solenoids. The line lock turns on the brake light and the nitrous turns on the Fasten Seat Belts light. :D
