hey Everyone,
I will be posting funeral arangments tomorow, at the moment we know it will be in south central indiana in Larrys Home town. Im sure Larry is heard and is still hearing all of your Prayers, I dint mean to have things confused on here as to Larrys condition so I didnt tell everyone that he had died instantly when I first called, I was told he did but wanted to verify that first, and also to make sure that all of his family members were notified first so that they didnt find out this way first. as you can imagine Darcy is very shaken and Im sure it hasent sunk in yet Larry has a lot of imediate family as well His Daughter Jesica is 16 & lives in the SC with Larrys privious wife His step son Mace graduated from High school last week here in Valpo His Step son Mark is in Qiwait (SP) and will be coming home tomorow we think on emergincy leave another step son Michale is in the service as well and located in GA also coming home on EM leave tomorow and a 3rd step son Matt just returned to denver yesterday after deing home for the graduation is also now on his way back home The acctual Happenings were Larry was sitting at a red light waiting to turn Left accros trafic while heading North on HWY 421 when a suburban failed to see the red light and the bike did not slow or stop he hit Larry from behind, and pushed him for 163 feet ind into the other lane of on coming traffic before hitting another car as well the suburban was going about 55 mph when he hit larry who was compleatly stopped needless to say Larry was killed instantly there were more details given to us at the coreners office that I will leave out, but he definantly did not see the truck comming or hear it since the truck didnt brake. and due to the injurys described to us the corner feels he dide instantly with no knowlage of what happened. to make somthing a little positive out of nothing, I can tell you there was a major look of relief on Larrys wifes face while we sat there with the corner and he described this because she then new Larry didnt know or feel a thing. another slight positive is that the injurys were 99% internal so for the final memories (ViSUALLY) his family has at the funeral they wont be as bad as some motorcycle vs car tragidys. they said he only had a small scratch on his face but there was nothing left of his ribs or internal organs its been a long night and Im not thinking to clearly so I hope I havent said anything I shouldnt have, if I did Ill edit it in the morning when I post the arrangment info Please everone dont contact Larrys fammily for a few days or a week Ill post there addresses once they say its alright, but I can tell you the phones are non stop there and it is making it worse. Darcy had a lot of troble talking about it and telling everyone that called just added to it. your welcome to call me if you need to and if you need somthing taken over befoer I can post there address I can do that as well Im putting my info on here for now untill Larrys wife says its ok to post thiers 219-405-7269 Ray Cox 235 Edinburgh Valparaiso, indiana 46385 |
Truely a tragic and sad day! May GOD rest his soul. I am sure this is tough on all involved and we appreciate the update. Let us know if there is an accout set up or something that we can contribute to help with any costs for the family or for the kids' future.

I didn't know Larry, but read many of his posts. Definitely a good man, and I will miss reading his posts.
May he rest in peace, and may God help his family cope with their loss. |
Larry had helped me an many posts and was a great guy. I can only imagine what the family must be going through right now and can only wish them the best in this time of need. It's unfortunate I never had the chance to personally meet him.
God bless |
this thread has been here almost 19 hours now and still hasn't been made into a sticky.
where's a moderator when you need one? |
That is a very sad story to hear today. I also have had a very bad motorcycle accident that could very well have taken my life, but I am still here by some miracle. It is scary out there on a bike these days when it seems everyone is on a cell phone and NOT paying attention to what they are doing while driving a big hunk of metal that easily takes life away from loved ones.
Larry had lots of great info from real life experiences, and was always there to share it with others. He sure will be missed!!! Bryan |
My deepest condolences to Larry's Family, may their pain be eased knowing how much he was loved here and what a huge difference he made to others. Im gonna give my family a hug right now.....:(
|
I hope it's not out of line to wonder if Ray or someone else close to the family would be able to attatch a Pontiac arrowhead emblem or something to the coffin? I think that would be cool.

It's done now, but you have a PM and E-mail function for things that we "Miss"... |
What was Larry's PY handle? Ray, did he live near Indianapolis?
Lynn |
Larry Davis was his handle.
He lived in Valparaiso, Indiana. |

"What was Larry's PY handle? Ray, did he live near Indianapolis?" Larry, Bud Lyons, David Holmberg, Bob Dillon, Scott E, and a few others like me went by their actual name. Ray Cox typically was the one posting in the Race section. On occasion Larry would post there. I put this post in the Race section as some never go near the lobby. Tom V. |
Larry Davis.
After reading about this last night i was so shaken by this news that i could not post anything. This is so sad, it's a terrible thing that happened to larry, a tragedy.
Larry and i talked on the phone a couple times and we exchanged e-mails many times, larry needed engine mount brackets for his firebird and he got them from me, after talking to him i often tried to visualize in my mind what larry looked like. RIP larry, i can't say no more. |
Robert I couldn't agree more about the loss of words or thoughts.
In the lobby thread there are some pic's of him... :( |
While I've never met Larry, he was always one of the first to hand out friendly, useful advice. I respected his opinion and tact.
He's touched many lives and looking at some of the locations on posts, the grief expressed on here is nationwide. Larry made a difference in many lives and we're all better people for knowing him, no matter how long it was. |
Guys I have just put some up to date info in the Lobby On BOTH post the main one has the most info then there is another about helping Larry.
|
I'm very sorry to be on the late show but this is very sad to hear of his passing. I didn't know him personally but by his post seemed like a nice guy. May he rest in peace, and his family find peace.
|
May he "Rest in Peace".
