Anyone Talk to Rodney Red Lately??

I ordered my Rodney Red on July 14th, talked to Jerry, and he said it would be 3-4 weeks. In the last 2 weeks, I have e-mailed him at least 3 times and have received no response, and I've made several attempts to call but get no answer and the message machine is full. Anyone know what might be going on there?

Rugratman 08-28-2006 11:47 AM

Vacation?
Jerry is a very stand up guy.

DBONES152 08-28-2006 12:12 PM

I agree with you Rugratman, Jerry has been a great friend to the Pontiac community for years. I'm just concerned that Jerry and Rodney Red are OK.

mwritter 08-28-2006 01:05 PM

Mine took about 8 weeks, maybe more and I had some difficulty with communication as well. But he did come through and it's a beautiful piece. Did you try the order tracking feature on his website?

DBONES152 08-28-2006 02:11 PM

Mwritter,

Jerry did not give me an order # when I placed the order and that is part of what I wanted to ask him so I could track it online.

mwritter 08-28-2006 03:19 PM

Hmm - I ordered online, maybe that's how I got my order number. I recall 3-4 unanswered emails along the way but he did finally let me know that he started on mine and I had it very shortly thereafter. Good luck!

rivhard 08-28-2006 11:22 PM

I called to order mine. He said he was about a month out. It is about that time now. I have not tried to keep in touch, just look out the window waiting for the UPS driver!!

DBONES152 08-29-2006 02:14 PM

I love it when that brown truck pulls up and the driver has a package from PY, Summit, or Jegs - Its just like Christmas morning.

Judge Smails 08-29-2006 10:05 PM

Personally, I prefer to see the FedEx truck or mailman as opposed to United Package Smashers but that's just me. :-) BTW, I HIGHLY recommend the Rodney Red; the fit is so perfect it's unbelievable. I don't remember too much of a wait when I got mine in early '03 though. Of course, it WAS the dead of winter, not exactly peak season... Jeg's?? Not even with a gun to my head.

455earlybird 08-29-2006 10:09 PM

Jerry is a stand up guy. I don't remember just how long it took to receive my very quality radiator, but I can tell you it was worth the wait.

Glenn 09-06-2006 04:42 PM

I've tried to get in touch with Jerry at Rodney Red for over a week....Phone calls and emails with no response. A friend and I both want to order a radiator. His 800 number is disconnected. The message on his phone answering machine is old and out dated, talks about just getting back from the GTOAA and getting read to go to Norwalk.

DBONES152 09-06-2006 05:28 PM

I don't know what to think. It will be 8 weeks on Friday that I ordered. I wish Jerry would communicate with someone. Maye someone at PY knows what's going on since they are a supplier of his products also?

Glenn 09-06-2006 06:38 PM

I checked with PY order desk and they said that this is nothing unusual for Rodney Red, very typical....8 to 10 weeks delivery time, total ignoring emails and phone calls. A good product, but worst service. PY has the same problems with them as everyone else.

Guess I'll be ordering a different brand.

Big Injun 09-06-2006 07:15 PM

Jerry is down in Honduras doing some missionary work and is due back the end of the week.

DBONES152 09-06-2006 07:15 PM

I guess I'll just wait mine out, since it has already been 8 weeks for me. I originally looked into a Griffin. When I first looked into ordering one they were about the same price as Rodney Red - $485. By the time I made the decision to purchase they had gone up to around $645. This was in a matter of days, both through Griffin direct and Summit.

Rugratman 09-07-2006 09:53 AM

The Rodney is a better fit. Better made.
Worth the wait.
I figured he was doing something, vacation or something.

UnchainedGTO 09-07-2006 10:08 PM

Rodney Red is the only way to go. I was able to get Jerry to build a radiator for my Suburban. I know it will be worth the wait and should drop my temps as well.

Glenn 09-12-2006 03:21 PM

I'm still trying to contact Jerry at Rodney Red. According to Big Injun he was to be back at his shop last week. Still nobody is answering phone calls or returning emails.

DeBones....have you heard anything yet?

Johnny Mac 09-12-2006 05:34 PM

Well, I don't know what to think about the situation you are in. But I too received a very good product. I spoke to Jerry on a couple of different occassions, both before and again after the sale regarding steel braided hoses. He was hard to reach, but very helpful and came off as honest, hard working, very knowledgeable and helpful.

It's good to do business with a busy man, I would buy from him again, I just can't imagine you won't get a fine product, but I understand the delay and unknowing is extremely frustrating.

DBONES152 09-13-2006 09:19 AM

Not a word - I'll try to give him a call today - Friday will be 9 weeks for me.

67 455 Bird ragtop 09-13-2006 12:06 PM

Let us know if you contact him. I sent him a tensioner of one of his serp belt kits that needed to be modified. Said it would be back to me in a week. That was August 9th. Emailed him this weekend but no response. He does nice work but can be hard to contact.

Glenn 09-15-2006 03:06 PM

Jerry is back in the shop. Took everyones advise and place my order with him today over the phone. He said it will take four or five weeks.

He seems like a great guy. He's been down in Honduras doing missionary work in schools, churches, and orphanages.

Blue '66 09-15-2006 03:52 PM

Ordered mine also while I was on lunch today. He told me 4 weeks. He also talked to me about his mission trip.Seemed really nice!

DBONES152 09-18-2006 12:57 PM

Talked to Jerry this morning. He said that my radiator was shipped on Friday. Just lookin' out the window for the UPS truck.

rivhard 09-19-2006 04:03 PM

Hey everyone. I got my radiator today. It looks great. A long wait, but my car is not ready for it anyway. Have a good day.

DBONES152 09-19-2006 07:38 PM

Got mine today too, and its absolutely beautiful.

Dave Schiffers 09-22-2006 04:49 PM

Please post some photo's of the rad outof, and installed in the car, please.

Thank,
Dave

Old Man Taylor 09-22-2006 05:58 PM

I called him yesterday and ordered a fan assembly for my RR radiator. It will take a week to get it out here on top of a couple of weeks for him to get to it and get it completed. I am looking forward to the cooling upgrade with my new engine - it runs hotter!

I have pics of the radiator out of the vehicle. It will not be installed until spring.

rivhard 09-23-2006 05:19 PM

Sorry, wrong pics. Here you go.

rivhard 09-23-2006 05:29 PM

Obviously my lack of computer skills is highly evident!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry about not having pics, I guess they are too large to post. Needless to say, the radiator looks great. It is polished, however most will be covered with the fan shroud.

Again sorry for the lack of pics.
Rich

Blue '66 10-03-2006 07:24 PM

I recieved my RR today!:D Only 3 weeks,looks beautiful!!!!!

Glenn 10-03-2006 08:10 PM

Blue.....On what date did you order your radiator? I ordered mine in Sept. 15th. Thought I might get an idea of when mine would get here.

Check that Blue....seems we ordered on the same day. Hope mine will be here in a few days. I also got the twin fans setup, which might take longer.

Blue '66 10-03-2006 09:14 PM

Yup mine was the 15th too,but I ordered mine in the morning(10:30)!:p It's probably because of the twin fan set up.

sixtyeight 10-04-2006 05:17 PM

I ordered mine back in july with the electirc fan and shroud he said it will be 4-5 weeks. Still haven't recieved it yet. I e-mailed him back in Aug. he said it will be shipped the following week. Then e-mailed him in Sept. he said it is being processed and it will be shipped the following week. Still no radiator. I'm hoping it is as good as you all say and is worth the wait. Back in July I wasn't in a big hurry, but now it is the only thing I'm waiting on to get my firebird going.

Glenn 10-04-2006 05:29 PM

Talked to Jerry this morning. He expected it to be shipped in the middle of next week. Said that he was waiting for a shipment of cores.

Dave,

Finally, here's some pictures. Sorry it took so long but I have to borrow a camera when I need one.

Glenn 10-06-2006 05:45 PM

DEBONES.....lookin good

UnchainedGTO 10-10-2006 08:07 PM

Mine came in today. I placed the order on 8/31 and I know Jerry was out the following week so all in all it was about 5 weeks to my door. This was for my 95 Suburban 454 tow vehicle, so it was a bit of a custom compared to what RR usually makes. It looks fantastic and will be installed this weekend.

Unchained.

sixtyeight 10-22-2006 11:49 AM

I'm glad you guys recieved your radiators, you must be the lucky ones. I ordered mine back in july, I've kept in touch with them and my credit card was billed Sept.20th and as of 10/22/06 I still have no radiator. Every time I e-mail him he lets me know it will be done by the end of the week. I don't know whats going on but it seems mine is being but on the back burner. I have seen by these posts that alot of you who ordered yours after I did have already recieved yours.

Glenn 10-22-2006 12:23 PM

Sixtyeight...I've had a similar experience. I ordered my on Sept. 15, the same day as Blue'66. Blue received his two weeks ago. I ordered my with the fan set up. Jerry said that he had run out of cores and would be shipping out my order on Oct. 12. I talked to him on the 17th to get a tracking number, but said that he had stuff come up at his machine shop and wouldn't be sending it until Monday Oct. 23. I've got my engine torn down but I won't be needing it for another week or so. If Jerry gets it out in the next few days I will be happy because in will take 4-5 days to get here, just about the time I need it to finish.

azbirds 10-23-2006 01:17 AM

I run RR's in 3 cars. They work great and I got them pretty fast( 2 weeks IIRC) I met them at Ontario at the Nationals, great people.
