Karma and Bryen Jensen
 

For those of us that have interacted with this young man and have wasted either time or money with him...I recently found out that he had his GTO put into a body shop to have some work done on it and that the body shop ran a bill up on him somewhere in the neighberhood of $15K. Talked to a guy that stated he believes that lil mr. Jensen legitimatly got ripped off. Now the body of his GTO is in some legal conundrum battle between Jensen and the bodyshop and it will be about two years before he will be able to get it out....if he does at all.

I hate to hear of anyone ever getting ripped off or taken advantage of, but in this case, all I thought of was "Karma" "what goes around comes around."


Several months ago:
Before I found out about this forum, I actually threw a 100 bucks at him for two kick panels (complete) and to rear "L" shaped Chrome trim. He stated that they were of "show quality" He sent me A kick panel and a half, and one of the L shaped Chrome pieces (this was after two months of harrassing him to ship it). Both items looked like they had been painted over several times and had maybe been ran over. Spent two more months trying to get the rest of what the agreed items were from him and all I ever heard was: stressed at school, got in a car wreck today, Dad worked me late, I'll send it out today...."

So for those of you that dont believe in Karma........here it is in action

I'm a firm believer in Karma too. Just sometimes takes a while to play out.......

And the dork was trying to start a GTOAA chapter in his area, bet that membership drive did real well.

Not trying to take up for the borkerer at all; but from this info how do you come to the conclusion that he has been ripped off. Sounds to me like a shop legitimately charged him for the work that they were doing on his car, and a conflict ensued. 15k is not really out of line, depending on exactly what work they did on his car.

If I remember right that car needed tons of rust repair. He probably cannot afford to get it out so the body shop is keeping it until he can!

I've watched and read all of the posts from the Jensens (son and dad), and always found it funny how they came on so strong, with no real positive input to our forum. I was not surprised when Bryan's little bussiness spiraled out of control. We enjoy a terriffic hobby with a small tight knit community, and I am glad to see that the trash gets removed quickly. Thank you to every honest person on this message board for helping to keep the Pontiac hobby honest. Ebay and the Barrett Jackson craze has allowed these bottom feeders to exist for too long.

Maybe thats the reason he cant afford to get his car from the body shop.

Well, I didnt go into all the great detail of the conversation that I had with the individual that was intimatley familiar with the situation. I paraphrased what the individial had said to me that knew of the whole situation first hand (a 30 min conversation). He's objective to the whole thing, not for the body shop or for Jensen's side. The guy that I got the info from is a real stand-up guy that knows cars and restorations...so his estimation was that Jensen was getting ripped off...It was a price and quality of work issue as well I guess, Epoxy was being used instead of welds, bondo was being applied instead of beating out dents that should have been..etc, etc.

Wow, that sounds like misrepresentation of the quality of the parts...oops, I mean work.

again, Karma.

I guess we'll have to check the local craigslist for a 67 GTO for sale, or parts.

I guess it wasn't done by the end of the school.

i still talk to him pretty often

he got the car out of the shop with relatively little trouble (had to get the law behind him)

he was charged almost $16,000 by them
He didn't ask for a quote or, evidently didn't check in on progress (even though i told him to do both - often)

12k or 13k was supposed to be ALL the bodywork and a show car paintjob (oral price quote, i guess...)
they kept charging him an extra $1,000 every time he visited, needing money for xxxx, $$$ for xxxx...

He ended up paying 15,200 before pulling the car out, after they requested another $1,000 and didn't have the body done yet


all the panels are supposedly misaligned and bondo/silicone everywhere - the above description sounded correct
he says it's a mess....wavey body lines and every nightmare you can imagine
They were supposed to use NO boddy putty - metal only work (which is why he was paying top price)

he's got it going to a new shop today


Sounds like everyone in california sees him coming with a checkbook and takes advantage of him




at the same time, his engine is in a fancy chevy rebuild shop and they're screwing him over there pretty good too
they've had the engine for half a year and racking up ridiculous costs - engine isn't even hafl done yet

(fuel injection, sheet metal intake - they're charging him for the works)

For a self-annointed Pontiac expert with a couple of years experience, he should have known better.

I hate to hear when anyone get's screwed, Body guy's are a different breed.

It's a shame really, young kid, obviously great car tastes, very enthusiastic, just a bad people person. Greed is a hard thing to overcome.

It comes and it goes...hard lesson, maybe he will learn a good one now.

I've read the threads on Bryan, and others and am left with the question why so much hatred for this kid. After all, everyone new he was young and dumb, just learning about cars, and with little or no experience. the complaints about losing relatively small amounts of money on some relatively cheap parts from a young kid that didn't know any better begs the question of how many does it take to dance (the answer is two). Who's taking responsibility for having age and wisdom on their side for the other end of the deal. come on, cut the kid some slack. Where's all the age and wisdom if he got the best of the deals, peronally, I'd keep quiet if I got blanked by a babe in the woods. My only question is this, why crucify the kid far worse than folks like Flopper, et al, who have rip off down to a science, and have done so for years.

The kid was a scoundrel of the first order. He's old enough to know the difference between "show quality" parts and "junk", which is how he was advertising some of the junk he sold. The straw that broke the camel's back was when he acted as a middleman on a sale of a car tp another board member, only to pull back the offer after the board member had already sent payment and made arrangements to pick up the car. Why'd he pull back the offer? His father decided he wanted the car and offered more money, after the kid had already sealed the deal. In fact, scoundrel is a nice word.

he got screwed on the motor he had rebuilt, too (supposedly)

he tore it down to put a new cam in it to make it a bit higher HP and found all used parts - an engine he had shipped from the east coast

motor had been crappy-bored (had lots of marks) and had other issues

he ended up selling it on ebay - buyer backed out after he heard shipping costs from california to florida


now he's doing a different motor, 400 stroker 455 - etc etc

he hasn't had any luck at all

The "hatred", or more fair of a word is disdain is because the kid was young, but not inexperieced as a con-artist. He knew exactly what he was doing and used that age excuse as just that.... an excuse when he started getting caught. I was one of the ones who he promised to sell a part for a certain price, then started getting excuses on why he couldn't keep up his end of the deal, only to find out that at the same time he was making excuses for not executing the deal, the parts were actually on e-bay fishing for a higher price. Experience has nothing to do with business practices such as this, just a total lack of integrety. He's just another Flopper in the making as far as i'm concerned.

Oh yeah, his comments on the "boobs" thread were outragious.

Oh, shouldn't he be going on his 2 year missionary work soon? He promised to leave CA for the "homeland".

I think a bunch of people were trying to be very nice and patient, suggesting he slow down and think about what he wants to do with the car, and he kept changing his plans.

It was sad until he kept screwing everyone around. Remember the headers that were brand new?

all i'd heard about the chevy shop is that it's one of the new ones
some guy started his own shop and supposedly, bryan's motor was the first in - which was like 8 months ago (and it isn't only chevy - he does everything)

he says the guy does great work and is pretty renowned


but it's my opinion he's getting screwed there too, based on the $ he said he's put out and the fact that the guy hasn't even started working on his motor
supposedly hasn't even ordered parts like the pistons, or started portwork on the KRE's he bought

From what I understand he was highly medicated for a few disorders. That doesnt jusify his dealings but I find it odd that this kid that is highly doped up giving advice is pretty pathetic.
