Hello.can anyone recommend where I can buy an original molded carpet for my 63 Lemans convert? Thanks Tony

TempestFugit 10-04-2006 10:14 PM

I think I got mine from Auto Custom Carpets.

I checked thier website and called them and they said they dont carry it for a 63 any other suggestions? Thanks
Tony

You could try First Class Parts. They are located at P.O.Box 261, Palmyra, PA - (717) 832- 0263. Unfortunately they do not have a web site. I have purchased some "soft goods" for my '62 LeMans, namely sun visors, kickpanels and a package shelf. The quality has been fine. I don't know whether they have a molded rug but it's worth a phone call.

I ordered my carpet on-line from www.stockinteriors.com for what I thought was a decent low price & it came in a trim parts box, (drop shipped). Go figure?

Poncho_Villa 10-26-2006 10:59 PM

Hey Peter, let us know how the fit is. I am curious as to how it fits over the small floor hump. The color quality looks good. How is the quality of the fabric?

tom s 10-26-2006 11:48 PM

just got mine, will pull it from the box and give a report this weekend.tom

Peter Serio 10-27-2006 12:25 AM

Hi, my carpet fits about as well as the original. The tiny hump is not what I would call "super" impressed or molded, somewhat loosely formed, is more like it. Fitting it to the floor pan on a nice hot day with the top down & letting the carpet sit outside in the hot sun for at least 24-48 hours prior is what I did to make the job go easier.

tom s 10-28-2006 06:25 PM

took it out of the box.It SUCKS!It is the same carpet that is in the car now. From a co. based out of NJ.Tom

tom s 10-28-2006 07:18 PM

it is from Newark auto products W orange NJ.Tom

Poncho_Villa 10-28-2006 08:29 PM

Heavy bummer! I would have bought this too.

At 80 bucks the temptation is still there, but I won't. Thanks for the heads up Tom. Maybe I'll shift my focus back to www.stockinteriors.com.
Hey Peter, are you happy with yours?

Peter Serio 10-29-2006 04:08 AM

Hi, overall I would say yes. It takes some time to fit it all the way around & cut out the holes, (neatly & none too large), for the bucket seat bolts & the safety belts. There is also dum-dum on the edges of the carpet where it's covered over by the sill plates, at least on a convertible there was.

TempestFugit 12-01-2006 03:10 PM

FYI update:
I found the box my carpet came in (it was shipped direct from Auto Custom Carpets, Anniston AL) I ordered it in 1999 from California Pontiac Restorations in Santa Ana CA 92701 Toll Free: 1-877-504-8124.

SDStanley 12-01-2006 06:01 PM

I purchased carpets from Auto Custom Carpets and wasn't happy with the fit, especially the front over the tunnel. Recently bought another set from Trim Parts, and these fit nice. (Carpets aren't fully installed yet, just set in place.)
Seems like most vendors sell the ACC carpets.

Hope this is still the case. I just ordered one for the Sport Coupe.

azkeebler 03-18-2008 07:31 PM

My two cents

About eight years ago, I actually ordered my carpet from Pep Boys :o ( I was young and on a budget). I believe at the time , it too was ACC carpet. It has held up well, however, it too had the fit issue at the tunnel, however, removing the supplied padding and adding new thicker padding (3/8-5/16 inch) throughout made a world of difference for fit. Cut down on road noise, too. Buddy in town here was happy with carpet from CPR.

Ed at PY 03-25-2008 10:47 AM

ACC does list this carpet set, their part # is 12289. PY does not stock it so i can't give any feedback on fit but if anyone wants a price let me know.

63Banshee 03-25-2008 11:44 AM

Got my carpet yesterday from Stockinteriors. It's an ACC carpet. The heel pad is sewn on crap and the padding might be too thin, but it looks like the rest is ok... so far. I'll see about installing it this coming weekend and will report on fit.

Dave, if you have time to post here and install your carpet, I don't understand why you haven't acknowledged receiving my 3/4/08 payment for the carburetors you offered to sell me: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=549491

FedEx told me this morning that no package is on the way to me from Texas, so I assume that the carbs haven't been shipped yet.

Have I done something to deserve this treatment?

Jesus Christ, man! I told you I would dig out everything I had for 1bbl carbs including what I sold you. Good things come to those who wait, but if you don't want to wait then you'll just get the two carbs. Geeeezzzzzz!

Tony, I apologize for interrupting your thread with my post.

Dave, I don't apologize for squat to you. I sent you the price you asked in the form you asked on March 4. When I heard nothing back, I e-mailed you a one-line question on March 17: "Dave, have you received the money order I sent for the carb?" In the next e-mail I sent (on March 24) I said "... I think I must have offended you somehow in the past. If you will explain to me how I've mishandled this deal I'll sure try to make it right."

Evidently you viewed both my e-mails as harrassment and ignored them. You also ignored the one Private Message I sent you on this Forum. Most people would have simply replied to my first e-mail that they've received the payment. You're something else, "man".
