When the 05s came out one could buy a Sport Apperance Package that included grills recessed, front and rear facia, taller spoiler, and side rockers.

Around $3200. Recall they had probs with front facia adhesive maybe?

Then I recall the rear spoiler being taken out of package and price reduced.
It was taller then OEM. People didnt like it I read somewhere.

Now I see on ebay the recessed grills being sold and notes of how hard they are to find, and discontinued.

Did they stop the entire SAP early and sell all these parts separate?

I havent followed it and might be moving toward some improvements once lease is up in few months/

Does that mean AutoCross is a supplier that has these SAP in stock?

I found one Autocross online but dont see any parts for sale.

From what I've read, SAP parts are discontinued and are getting harder to find. When dealers and/or suppliers run out of them, that's it. :( I wouldn't mind having the kit on my car but NOT for $3200! :eek:

I called a fellow member here today who works at a dealer. he hokked me up with parts manager.

price for fron and rear facia extensions, rockers, mufflers and tips are $2200.

they have changed this kit so much since it came out I cant keep it straight.

Now grills are avail by themselves and not in kit that I was given number for.

Just saw a set of grills for over $400 on ebay. Darn, I hate I waited so long.

No. It means that is what Pontiac called the option when it was offered in 05 in a failed attempt to appeal to the Tuner crowd.

I just spent the morning calling around and no luck.

Apparantly some members posted the locations of last remaining grills on LS2GTO.com around Christmas and they went fast due to ebay opportinuty to double price.

These are now selling for over $500 a set and none in pipeline or dealer stock anywhere in US so says three dealers I called, plus three other GM accessories companies.

Post or PM me what you would pay if at all and I will let you know what I see or get calls on.

I have adds running around looking so once I find a set I can send rest to you.

Dang, I dumped my extra set about a year ago for $200. I would have never guessed that they would have become hard to get. They do look nice though. I liked them on my car.

I found a set the other day. Its the only set I have found in a few weeks of looking.

There is a guy on LS2GTO.com who works for GMPARTS WAREHOUSE.com who had a few of the last sets. All gone now.

Latest is that they are selling for OVER $700 A SET on ebay and private channels! I bet it will go up more.

Around 45 guys bidding on last two sets on ebay I recall.

Man, I liked em at first, but kinda thinking now that dont look so good afterall. Certain body colors look good other colors they dont look good to me, IMO.

I may have to rethink the exterior options/

Anyone heard of any new parts suppliers coming out with ext parts?

Man maybe I need to sell my grilles! NIB! I haven't decided if they make it look more like a GP as they have recessed grilles. I will cut loose a primered SAP spoiler NIB.

the 04 SAP included a 05/6 hood, grilles, and the taller spoiler.

Man, wish I held on to my extra set! I sold them for $200 about a year ago. I got the whole '04 SAP kit for $500 - $300 cheaper than the '05 hood alone. I had trouble getting rid of the spoiler. Practically had to give that thing away on eBay.

I bought an '04 SAP kit for my car too. They released them to dealers in late '04 after I bought my car. I got my kit through my selling dealer's parts dept when sales manager showed me the dealer bulletin. I never mounted any of it, the whole kit is still in the boxes. I decided I like my car stock, so the kit is in storage. I drive the car so infrequently,it still seems like a car I just bought last week, so I havent tired of anything about it.

When I first looked at SAP when they came out (for my 05) they had front, rear facias, taller spoiler, rockers and grills. Over $3K. I have the original brochure from dealer.

Then it got changed to NO SPOILER (no one liked them I heard) and price dropped

Now I see they have front, rear facias (bumper covers) rockers, mufflers and tips, no grills.

The grills were sold seperate at some point but all gone in GM stock.

The spoilers are still available through Gene at www.gmpartshouse.com.

So VDB, you selling your kit? Skip, selling the grills?

Im trying to buy last SAP kit left in inventory.

Have you all seen the effects kits from company down under?

You know, I really hadn't thought much about it. I was just planning to hang onto to it as long as I owned my car. Be careful with that '05 front autocross front fascia, they did not stay attached too well when they were first released, GM later came out with a hardware kit since they had so much trouble with them, dont know if all later fascias had the kit or not..Craig

Craig, Thanks for the heads up. I remember that and read every detail as it unfolded. Thats the main reason I backed off it at the time and didnt buy.
I went to dealer and they didnt know squat about problem local back then.
They sent some GM engs down to some guys house on LS2 site I recall to investigate early in problem.

I had my 05 "tuned" tonight at well know national LS shop with dyno.
Hes done over 1200 nationally and pretty neat to watch procedure and computer pulls.

I picked up 11 rwhp from 324.4 to 335.2 and 342.1 torque up from 328.3.
They can adjust shift points, a/f mixture ,operating temp etc.

JL, What color combo is your car ? How do you like it? I really like my 04, I will probably never part with it.

If anybody has a set of SAP grilles that they want to sell, let me know. I already have the spoiler and front extension. Don't want the rear bumper and side pieces, just the grilles. If you have a set, please send me a pm. Thanks.

My 05 is Quick Silver, black interior.

I see a bunch of people looking on LS2GTO site.

Some are talking about finding a company to do aftermarket grills and have a list going. I will post if I hear anything or see a set of grills for sale.

What an opportunity for Performance Years to get in on making repops of the SAP grills uh? Chris, you listening? ;)

What was weird also was I could buy the 04 SAP WITH the 05 type hood, grilles, spoiler for cheaper than just an 05 hood!

If you pop off the grill portion of the stock grill you get the same affect as the SAP, sort of. Put some cool wire mesh on the inside, fill the holes somehow and bingo you just got a recessed grill for basically nothing... I'll see if I can find a pic, looks pretty cool IMHO.

Maybe I just don't like way these cars came out of the factory.Wait, no maybe about it, but with the right set of wheels, tread and grill treatment I might have to take a 2nd look.......................

What was involved on removing the inserts on the scoops? I started to take them out since it looked easy, but stopped because I thought I was going to break something. Looked like you could snap the rubber grommets under the hood back in to keep the insulation from getting wet when it was washed.

Hey, I'll give credit where credit is due. The car pictured was a damn good looking car, at least from that angle. Obviously not factory stock wheels and with some owner mods. If I were to ever get one it would be to have as a daily driver a modern muscle car, not as a GTO. GMs half assed attempt to revive the GTO in the form a re-badged Holden Monaro was pathetic at best but I think the car itself is a worthy entry as a modern day musclecar. If I had one the first thing to go would be the cheesy looking spoiler and the GTO emblems.

The only thing I don't like about that car pictured above is the wheels. I'm the wrong color for me to consider them on any of my vehicles. I'm a fan of the 5 spoke wheel designs. I would like to see what a nicely designed 'ducktail' spoiler would look on these cars too.

Someone is making a wire mesh insert for these areas in pic of GTO with grills, lower part removed...... I think.
Ive seen them in pics but not sure if some are owner fabbed or co sold.
Empty doesnt look to bad though.

I know they were doing some front clip work and had it off the car, other than that you'd have to do a search over on ls1gto.com to find out the process.

Some guys are trying to have copies made from the SAP grills on another site for sale.
I wouldnt think GM would think to kindly about someone copying a GM part, would you?

Not only would they not think kindly they wouldn't allow it. My guess is that a subtle Difference / Improvment is made to any vendors design...

Why should they? GM discontinued the part, it's their fault.

Ducktail looks much better. The back end of this car is too bulbous to accomodate a large spoiler.

In a modern application I think he chose exactly the right wheels. 5 spoke look good on older applications but I don't think so on newer vehicles. The stock wheels from GM supplied on the 2004-2006 GTO look cheap: aka 5 spoke.

Youre right, if GM will not allow LOGOS being reproduced they would send the registered letter for copies of grills I bet. I wouldnt want to run afoul of them.

Mine has to go in the body shop in the next few weeks to get some damage to the rear bumper fixed. I'm thinking of having them fill the spoiler holes too so I can add a lip spoiler like those in the pic. I really like it a lot better than the stock behemoth, it's just expensive for what it is ($350).

I think that tail covers the existing holes. IF not that one ther is one out there somewhere that does...

Assuming they come shipped in primer, did your shop have much work trying to shade match the paint?

Im no fan of big badging and I see most of the younger US guys actually de badge the cars the first thing they do.

Yes, JHP. Good bunch of guys.

Comes shipped as raw, black plastic, like a replacement Pontiac part would (I guess). The front was replaced as a result of a hit and run in the company parking lot, and they got the hood too. The shop had to blend the front fenders to match the new paint on the hood and nose (they say silver is the worst to try match). I have not seen it done, should pick it up tomorrow, so who knows how well it matches (couldn't be any worse than the factory job). They did a fine job after I deleted the spoiler, so I'm not too worried.

I'm not a big fan of all the badges either - my car is completely shaved. Unfortunately, the part that the big chrome lion mounts to is molded in to the grille, but the grille is easy to remove (and modify).

Love the fog lights, not much else. Do you have to run a front plate? Woul be nice if they could mold what I assume is the plate cutout there in the middle.

My favorite grill mod is the Woodward inserts and MidwestPDs chin spoiler.

Fog light configuration LOOKS cool... I hope it works as good or better than the stockers with Silverstars in them.

I am not wild about about the Holden front either, but I like it better than what Lutz did to it. The main goal with the mod was to increase the "WTF is that?" factor, while still staying low key.

And yes, the law states that the front plate is required, but I never run one

I pulled the trigger few weeks ago and bought the LAST SAP kit in the US and its being delivered tomorrow says Fed Ex Freight. 100lbs.

Problem is its RED. I may sell if I decide to use one of the JHB kits or find color matching has any problems.

My shop says they can blend paint and said Silver is bad to color match like you say. Shades vary, and my 05 Quick Silver looks like its half azz paint job. They had problems with some. Looks like white splotches in paint up close.

Anyone hear of any service bull. on fit/finsih/body (paint)?

I am trying to find many pics showing the different JHP kits installed for decision.
