How high will it go? 65 Cat 2+2

This is amazing. It goes to show that most gems are those not advertised. It is nice to see all these 2+2's popping up lately. A friend of mine said we need to invest in a couple of tanks of gas and just cruise around some and hunt for cars with some cash in our pockets. Although this one looks rough, I would sell my car in a heartbeat to start a frame of on that beauty.

Nice 421 2+2! Hope it is brought back to its former glory.

Honestly guys, although I would hate to see it parted out, with the condition of that car, it is actually worth more in parts than as a whole. It would surprise me if it bid to much more than 5-6k. These cars had just too hard and expensive to fix right when in that condition. You could spend over 50k easily on the restoration. I would love to own it, but after someone else did the resto.

jerry, don't take this the wrong way, but you southern guys are spoiled. that old car's the norm to restore in the rust belt. we just need parts to do it.

i'll be surprised if it reaches 5k just because of the appearance of the car.

Strip it down and see what is left. Start from the bottom and work up. So what is 50k amongst friends? Lets see 500 a month for 100 months. It would be done in 8 years. No problem. I wonder what the survival rate is between the H.O. Automatics vs the manuel. I would think the auto would have a better chance. It is real easy to blow one up with a manual. I really hope this car stays together.

That motor is worth $3500.00 alone, if it is good.

I agree Mike, the parts are unobtainable. I was asked $7500 for an NOS taillight trim panel a couple of years ago, and that is the only one I've seen in years. Sad thing is I sold one many years ago for $125 and thought I got a ton for it!

And Steve, by the look of the car, do you really think the engine is good? I recently spent over 6k on a virgin low mileage 65 421 to get it up to stock HO specs.

Jerry H. 04-23-2007 10:30 PM

That really doesn't look like a '12 bolt' rear to me either. Looks like the original 10 bolt.

The car is only 45 miles or less from me. If I get time, I'll try to go take a look.

Hitman 04-24-2007 08:04 PM

The guy pulled the offer. I would like to know what he got for it. It has all the nice options, posi, HO, buckets, eight lugs, console. The only thing it lacked was a 4 speed and air. I hope it gets restored.

Jerry,
It doesn't matter to the person who wants it. I sold a running 65 421HO with the wrong heads to a guy for $3500.00 and he was tickled to get it.
I guess if you buy it, you HOPE that the engine is good!

Jerry H. 04-24-2007 10:55 PM

I bought it for the engine and rear end. I'm picking it up tomorrow. Anyone want to make a decent offer on the rest of it?

Today is April 1 isn't it?

Hitman 04-25-2007 06:40 AM

No way!!!

rknrl69 04-25-2007 08:33 AM

"Say it isn't so Joe" Jerry!

No it is not April 1st.

Hitman 04-25-2007 08:40 AM

Well, if it is true, their may be a few things I would like off of it.

mike nixon 04-25-2007 09:24 AM

it's a shame to see a numbers matching car cannibalised, especially a rare one like that.

I'd like the tach and the gage cluster if it's the rally cluster...
