65-70 Trunk floor: 'Group Buy' interest if reproduced?
 

This thread is to try and show interest in getting trunk floor pans produced. I know I've never seen a trunk floor that wasn't rusty.
If they were made, I'd buy 'em. That's one.

Good point. The Bonneville floor plan is about 5 inches longer than the Catalina (don't have a Grand Prix to measure). The Bonne has about 41 inches of flat pan and the 2+2 measures about 37 inches of flat before it curves up front and rear.

Vote for '64 GP

At least in 67, and think all the way to 70, the Bonn and Cat floors are the same. The GP floors are the same until 68, then GP are no longer full size. I never had a 65 or 66, so cant say on those years.

Are the trunk floors the same 65-70 as per the title of this thread? I can see 65/66 being interchangable - same with 67-68, etc. Would a '67 catalina trunk floor work in a 65 without any major issues?

sign me up for one. Ames was going to stamp them about 10 years ago, but later said there was not enough interest.

I'm planning to fabricate my own this winter either way.

Does anyone have the exact dimensions of what the original trunk floors were for these?

Measuring the width is easy since the sheet metal has a definite edge to it. We will have to have some sort of guidelines for measuring the length since the pan gradually swings up on both ends. Possibly the center of the upturned radius? I've got a 65 Bonne and 65 2+2 so at least the lengths would be relative to each other, but everyone will probably have a different technique on where to start and end the measurements. Anyone want to set a guideline here?

what i'd do is measure from trunk drop to trunk drop and add 1" for the joint. then measure from the seam at the tailpanel to either the seam above or below the spare tire hold down in the center of the car. if you measure on up to the rear seat divider after the first measurement it'll tell us where the length difference between the cat and the bonnie is exactly.

Can someone see what the width of the trunk floor is on the Bonne?

I measured my friends 66 Impala trunk floor and it's measures 44" long (with compensation for the front and rear curves) while measuring 72" wide. Not sure of the length of the flat bottom, but I measured the whole thing.

Just FYI the 61-4 Catalina and GP trunk pan is being shipped to taiwan for production as we speak. I have no idea of a timetable at this point, but I will keep this board informed.

I'm real close to going with the 66 Impala 3 piece from Classic Industries. I've been talking to one of their techs and he's been kind enough to pull the part and measure it for me. Now it's just a matter of seeing how close it is and pulling the trigger.

I can only tell what I know about 65-66 cars
the 4dr car has the same trunkfloor as the conv...... all because of the wider area over the rear axle.....not to know how big piece the will make
bv and catalina has different lenght as well
have a rustfree 66 bv 4dr car trunkfloor here in sweden.......... can try to measure if needed
damn it....has a 66 cat 4dr to part out as well
but floor is......well not usable

I'm going with the 65-66 Impala reproduction floor. The measurements are only off by a hair or two. I plan to document the process and post it here. Should be ready to start sometime over the winter.

Hope someone puts a sticky back on this. I'm checking it periodically hoping to see the 61-64 trunkpan available so I can move forward with my frame-off. It'll be worth the wait. Any word or estimate how long before available? Ready to place the order.

I hope to have some very good info on the 61-4 trunk pans very soon! I am working on a partnership to bring these to market very soon. They are already at the manufacturer in Taiwan and ready for tooling. I should know something within a few days. This is going to take a sizable investment on my part. Now for everyone who said they would buy one to hold to their word! Stay tuned for further info. No PMs please.

i'm gonna stick this until jerry gets his confirmation of a time line for production. if he wants it up longer i'm going to leave it stuck.

Since he's only doing 61-4 repop wouldn't it make more sense to pin his other thread and let the 65-70 thread DIE!!!:faint: Hey stevez... let us know how you make out with the Chevy pan (maybe your own thread) sombody else on here did that but said the center section came nowhere near close.
