New eBay Motors Trashed My Saved Searches!

All 43 of my saved searches now are junk.. THANK YOU eBay Motors.....

I cleared cookies on my browser - but that doesn't work anymore either.

Who's the rocket scientist that came up with this plan??

bren566 01-16-2008 01:31 PM

I had the same problem. If you look in the upper right hand corner, you will see a place where you can go back to the classic ebay motors style where your saved searches should still be.

markpj23 01-16-2008 02:32 PM

That worked - Thanks!

The Boss 01-16-2008 02:42 PM

Do you then have to re-create the searches, because when I click on one of mine, it no longer brings up a list, it brings me to the new e-bay motors home page.

6704gto 01-16-2008 03:46 PM

wheres the tab on the upper right corner

Ollie 01-16-2008 06:46 PM

The new Ebay format sucks, you have to be too spacific. Cant do a gereral search like the old format.

Tennesseestorm 01-16-2008 06:54 PM

Stupid ebay.

The Boss 01-16-2008 06:56 PM

Found it, I'm back up, Thanks!

6704gto 01-16-2008 07:53 PM

im still looking for it i cant find the tab

The Boss 01-16-2008 09:40 PM

Right hand side, near the top of the page but underneath the banner. I think it says options.

abefromen 01-16-2008 09:42 PM

Ebay did it to me last night and I about popped a blood vessel until I found out you can switch back...........

frankyboy455 01-16-2008 11:38 PM

I just can't find it. What "banner" are you talking about ? I am positive, there is NO option anywhere. Could it be they removed it so we can now only use the new ebay motors ?

It might be based on the cookie EBay puts on your PC. They give you a day or two of torture before the option out button shows up. Thats how mine worked.

6704gto 01-17-2008 08:39 AM

IS IT ON THE EBAY MAIN PAGE OR EBAY MOTORS CAUSE IM NOT FINDING IT,THIS BITES

65gto69 01-17-2008 09:33 AM

I thought the old format was fine, was working great for me and didn't have any problems with it.

The new format does suck, way too much crap taking up the screen, not to mention I lost my searches (will look for the option button). I was not on it long at all last night, usually spend a couple of hours searching all kinds of pontiac stuff. Since I had to re-type all my searches in just to look for stuff, I just shut it down.

Yeah - exactly what I did. The good news is that once you return to the OLD eBay Motors site, your old searches will work again!

Change is OK - but not when you trash your existing customer base... pay attention Meg Warren!!

Overkillphil 01-17-2008 11:05 AM

Lately they seem to be tweaking things for the sake of tweaking things with no real improvement needed in the first place.

Like everything else in our throw away society.

Ollie 01-17-2008 12:25 PM

I sent a message to them saying the new format really sucks.
I will try looking for the tab to return to the old format.

Ollie 01-17-2008 12:38 PM

I just looked I cannot find the options button on the home page or motors page.
Can someone post a screen shot? Thanks

Ollie 01-17-2008 01:23 PM

Ebay feed back

I JUST FOUND THE OPTIONS BUTTON AND SWITCHED BACK TO THE OLD FORMAT.
ALSO UNDER THE OPTIONS IS A FEED BACK BUTTON, SELECT THIS BUTTON AND IT TAKED YOU TO A FEED BACK SURVEY. TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO FILL OUT THE SURVEY,
LISTING ALL THAT YOU DONT LIKE ABOUT THE NEW FORMAT.
Sorry just realized the caps lock was on.

6704gto 01-17-2008 01:27 PM

I FINALLY FOUND IT AND SENT THEM FEEDBACK THAT SAYS THE NEW EBAY SUCKS,BUT WHEN I TRY TO SWTICH IT BACK IT KEEPS TIMMING OUT

65gto69 01-17-2008 01:58 PM

I can't find that option button!!!!

Are you guys running IE to surf the net???

I use mozilla firefox, maybe that is the problem. I will try IE to see if it shows up.

I finally got the option to switch back.

Get used to the new motors site, it is being jammed down out collective throats. Go to the site map at the top, then discussion boards, then the motors board and see any of 15+ threads about how well the new site is liked, this has been going on since last May.

Ollie 01-18-2008 01:36 PM

Bob it's not just the Motors forum. I followed your link above everyone over ther is hopping mad.
I followed Bob Vidans link posted above and found this posting.

OPT OUT! I followed a thread posted here and found an Opt Out option posted by Gail. This gives you the old format back, as this is a test. The Opt Out link is found at the bottom of the search page. Look hard, becaust this is; The proverbial small print, just click on Opt Out and get happy again! And then send email to Ebay, just because you Opt Out, does not mean that this change won't be instituted!

Going to check it out will rport back

Completed Listings question

This is off the subject a bit, but I was trying to find a local car that I found out was sold on eBay after the fact.
My search results only went back two weeks. Is there a way to change the dates of the completed listings you want to find? Is there a limit to how old the auction is?
I think the car in question was sold in December.

I wanted to see what the car sold for, and what was disclosed in the description.

performerrpm 01-21-2008 09:33 AM

what really sucks about the new ebay motors is even when you do actually get what your searching for to pull up, it has a hard time scrolling down the page for some reason. the rest of the new ebay works fine though just the motors suxks. the regular e motors works fine too and i know its not my pc making the search pages freeze its their site

61-63 01-21-2008 11:34 PM

Everyone that posted here or who has read these posts and uses Ebay Motors needs to let Ebay know how we feel about their lousy new format. Bitchin' about it on this site may make us feel better but it will have no impact at all on the Ebay crowd.

It is obvious that the turkeys Ebay has programming their site have never searched for car parts on Ebay Motors.

Wally in Keller 01-22-2008 11:35 PM

Well said. I'm off to ebay to post my complaint.

unruhjonny 01-22-2008 11:39 PM

I was annoyed by their site today too.

I found the link by going to the ebay motors new hom page, and waiting for it to load up; center and top, under their banner in small print is the option to go back to the old format.

Searching with the new ebay motors is a huge PITA - you used to be able to do a backwards search from a bookmarked item (like say you're looking at a Muncie main case, you used to be able to click on the "manual transmissinos & parts" group, and it would bring you there... it doesn't work with the new page(s).

If everyone read this thread I'm sure collectively we will save lives because stress only shortens your life... and this new site is plenty stressful!!!

BTW - message left!

Thanks for the link!! :D
