Thanks so much Brian.

I just tried to upload a pic for an avatar, No Go.
I am wondering if there is a smaller size limit for an avatar, verses posting a pic on a thread. I tried putting a pic in my signature from my computer files. Then I saw where the size had to be under 19.5KB. Is that a bunch smaller than the thread posting limit?
I thought the latter was at least 100KB.

Sorry about all the confusion, but I haven't attempted to post any thumbnails, because I stink at resizing.

No it won't resize it. If you upload it I can resize it for you.

I just uploaded one, and tried pasting it in the URL box in the Edit Your Avatar feature. It came up with an invalid URL message.
Is that because I copied & pasted the [IMG] along with it?
I am so confused.

I just want to see if this will work.

Hallaluhlya. Now if I could just learn how to resize. This is one of only a few in my comp files that is under 100KB
Could one of the mods list the size limits please, so I know what to shoot for?

PY size doesn't matter for my uploader, but I have a 1mb (1000kb) limit.

This one was somewhat bigger than 200KB.

If you are running Windows use the Paint program to resize a photo. Open the Paint program and from the file drop down menu chose open and find the photo you want to resize and upload it. Further over on the tool bar is the image button. open the image menu and select strech/ skew open that. There you will see a Horizontal 100% and vertical 100% change those to 25% and click OK. The resized image will appear on the screen. go to the file button and check save as. When the save as window opens, at the bottom the photo title appears usually it is the number of the photo. I add reduce or cropped after the number. You now have the original photo and a smaller copy in the folder.

Tinypic ended up offering temporary service. Once the service is dissolved, the pics will disappear. Thus, a temporary service is only temporarily usefull

So your saying what? I have an avatar folder on my server for the last few years for the PY'ers. I don't plan on deleting this folder if that is your concern.

Mods, can any of you make this a sticky?

Its really hard to describe some things when a pic will do it all.
Maybe you should offer to consult PY on how they can fix their problem.

To do that, the mods would have to provide more bandwidth for hosting pics. I heard things are tight enough already here, without hosting

Not really. But, I've never seen a forum host pictures before. There must be a reason for that.
It was stated, however, here, that older Clubhouse threads, and the like, have been deleted to make room for future ones.
Or how do you figure the forum should handle graphic data storage?

You must not be a member of many forums. Many many forums using this same software allow the uploading of graphic images. To be fair, some of them require "premium membership" (meaning a nominal annual fee) in order to use that feature and typically there is a limit to file size/resolution. Many of them also archive older images (meaning really that they delete older images) to save storage.

Allowing the uploading of images is one thing. For that, any hosting service will do. They keep the storage of this data floating in Cyber Space. Some of them delete the data, after a certain amount of time. Tinypic is notorious for doing this. I once uploaded a puzzle which was a large pic on this one forum. I did it by cutting the orginal into 100 by 100 pixels and then uploading it as individual attachments. The puzzle bits are still there, after some 3 or so years, long after the hosted pic vanished.

1stoff, I'm offer help to the members of PY until this issue is resolved on PY's site. I am allowing people to upload pics to MY server and link to this site. No bandwidth of PY is used, especially posting this as a sticky.

I am doing this as a favor. If you don't want to use this, please stay out of this post and if you need to complain about tinypic or any other forum take it to the complaint forum. There was no need for you to make 4 posts in this topic.

With your highness's permission, may I ask the 5th question asking, "What issue?". Were was the problem of uploading for some members and not for others? Why was I able to upload pics, but a few others not? To ask such a question does not necessarily imply that I'm questioning your intentions for offering a parallel hosting service, temporary or not. Does it?You've just repeated one of your former posts of which I and others have already read. Unlike you, I only need to read something one time. It's not my mind that's stuttering, here Huh?! How can you take my post that far out of context? Must I explain in fine detail?f you haven't noticed already, 2 of those posts were direct answers to questions on a discussion forum of which you choose to personally moderate to suit your own state of mind. Secondly, I don't need people like you to determine what my needs are or not.
If you still lack the capability not to realize how off-beat your posts read, then it's time you go send your head out for some electrical medication, in order to weld down those loose screws which used to attach your mind together, Sir:

I wanted to thank you for helping out with your upload space. I'm sure lots of members appreciated having the ability to post pictures while I was trying to get my act together. And I'm sure more members appreciate being able to see those pictures.
