We had seen this 67 GTO convert with an 04-06 GTO running gear at the Good Guys show in Charlotte last weekend & it was a sweet looking ride also.

Or a 78- on T/A w/ a 403? Or a 301 powered (sorry, NOT a REAL Pontiac anymore than the LSx's are) car?
|
I forgot- what about the base cars w/ Chevy straight 6's and Buick V6's??

hmmm 400 give or take HP 25 mpg not a SBC what is wrong with that?
Heck get with the times I am all about a pontiac in a pontiac Hell I spent way more money building a "pontiac based" IA2 with E heads to put in my prostreet TA just so it was a pontiac appearing engine under the hood. In hindsight I could of had just as good results for less with an LS based motor and gotten better gas mileage. When I finish restoring my 65 Lemans convert It just may get an LS2 because of all the advantages but I will be damned if I put a SBC in it I would rather die. BUt to some I guess seeing how it is not a "true" GTO I guess that would be okay? So what...build them the way you want them built for yourself if you can't stand what other people do then buy their car and put it back to the way you want them otherwise just enjoy the hobbie and what it is all about. Oh I am putting an LS1 in my 37 ford and I have both I guess that would be wrong too? Yeah I also have a 77 pontiac firebird with a factory olds motor in it so is it still a pontiac? hmmm Too much drama on some of these threads. Everyone has the right to build anything anyway they choose. That is the given right we have in life and what we work so hard to be able to do with our hobbies. It is for individuality, pleasure, uniqueness, enjoying and sharing not to please others and how they expect things to be done. That would be left for the work place LOL Cheers Enjoy your cars the way you want to and by the way I really like the way those late GTO seats are sculpted to look better in the car. I tried it once and they were just way too tall and looked funny, this carefull alteration is quite pleasing I may just end up doing that with my convert. Those back seats are a breeze to fit just the center divider needs to be widened for the seats to fit like a glove |
The funny/ironic part is the Chevy boys are having the same kind of issues. They can't get their heads around the LSx engines. Too much like a Pontiac engine, I guess. Who knows, but I think it's funny that they're getting a dose of what it was like for the Pontiac/Buick/Olds/Caddy guys when GM only had SBC engines. Now that SBC aren't powering anything, they don't know what to do.
I say just embrace the LSx platform. It's GM's future. |

I know you don't have more pics, do recall if he used the stock dash or the new gto dash? john |
I'm not positive but I think he used the '04 console, door panels but had the 67 dash. Hopefully it'll turn up at another show & I can get some more pics & info on it.

Those 67 pics are sweet. Very tastefully done. I really like how they made the later model seats into low backs. Not crazy about the smoothed firewall but that's about it - probably had to do it for clearance?

Of course it's funny that Ford's little bitty mod motor is running quicker than any LS based engine!!! :pound::pound::pound::pound: (low 6's for the mod motor compared to very high 6's for the best 150k+ LS based engine with custom billet heads) |

The point you just missed was just because it has a LSseries engine in it doesn't mean it's worth a crap! |

Based on your assumption of RACE CAR ENGINES? Keep dreaming dude. The LSX engine is something special. In 1999, I had a Trans Am that made 309hp at the wheels. Not bad for something that was rated at 305 net at the crank. They've only gotten better and there are plenty of aftermarket parts and support for them. |
