1967 Bonneville 428 4 Speed Wagon
 

I am helping a friend sell a 1967 Bonneville 9 passenger Wagon. It is a factory WG 428 4 speed. PHS documented. Blue with Blue interior. FACTORY Bucket seats, PS, Disc brakes, AM/FM 8 track, Tilt column, Gauges, Muncie with factory Hurst shifter Power locks, power rear window Power antenna, Remote mirror. Wow, great find. Not my favorite style nose but the options sure will make it a great wagon. How's the rust issue? I see a few dings and dents but it doesn't look bad. Does it run at all? 3rd row seat?

Teej, The wagon has typical rust around the rear fixed windows, in spots of the floors and in the tire well. It doesnt run at this time (no carb for sure). The top end looks to have come from a 77 or newer 400. I should have more pictures in a couple of days. It has the 3rd row seat and the second row seat is split and you can fold down half at a time or the whole thing. I have never seen one like this. Also the bucket seats have fixed backs with no provisions for folding forward like a 2 door bucket would. We also have the protectoplate for the car. Thanks, Jeff

Lyn, Thanks a bunch. If I had the room I would do the car. I am selling 2 of my own and am trying to help a friend out. THis 67 wagon has some very odd options and was special ordered 3 times before Pontiac finally accepted the order. The car has a great history and I would love to see some one do the car. Jeff

The original owner wanted the 428H.O. but the factory kicked back the order ( no H.O in any wagons anymore) So he reordered as is and had to do that twice! Car was over $5800 new. Jeff

I believe it. My '67 wagon was almost $5k and all it had was the lo-po 400, AC, and the deluxe steering wheel. This is the car I wanted to turn it in to, but the hard-to-find parts killed it for me. Very nice though. Hopefully the rust isn't too bad.

I am not in the market, but as I love wagons and especialy the idea of a performance car and 4-speed I hope my comment is OK here. As rare as it is, those 67 front ends were not Pontiac's best effort.

Maybe a 67 Grand Prix front clip?

Don't forget some 8 lugs with that gp nose. It makes you wonder about the the original owners idea behind ordering it just that way, (to the salesman) " well i'd like to haul the whole family on a vacation to disneyland then when i get back do a little bracket racing" reminds me of the two dudes that ordered 4 door 66' hemi belvederes.

ah the "odd" front ends is what makes it really stand out. (i guess its an aquired taste! HA!) i would keep it the way it is and get rid of the bonneville emblems ect... and replace them with 2+2 emblems all the way around! :D

I had a car just like the wagon. 4sp 428 AC, disc, buckets, headrest, reclining, pw,ps power antenna, roof rack and vinyl top, light package. My car was loaded, with paper invoices from the dealer on repairs. Was a neat car, sold it to a guy in S. Cal. I read somewhere they only built 29 4sp's. Mine was sold new in Seattle. Cool car, thought it was my old wagon, but close.

Yeah thats the one wagon I tried to buy from you,but guess I didn't have the right $$,there was another one that was just off the RED-Kirk rd sittin in a carport about 25 years ago,I think it was an auto though,just about same options too,they wouldn't sell,I think it went over around P Orchard,I remember yours was apart?,neat car

Funny you mention the four door Hemi cars. Both of those cars were in Wichita, Kansas in the 70's, and I knew their owners. They were actually Dodge Coronets, not Plymouth Belvideres.

The red one was ordered new by Floyd Cline, owner of Pappy Cline's Dyno. He was a regular at the local dragstrip with his 4-door 59 Chevy race car called "The Eradicator" (one of his employees drove the car). Floyd owned the car until his death. It was then sold and re-sold a few times. I last saw the car at the May 2007 Mecum auction in Belvidere, IL. It did not meet reserve.

The white one was purchased new in Alabama. The owner later relocated to Wichita.
A friend of mine heard about the car from an employee of a Wichita parts store where the original owner had gone to purchase an air filter. It was his regular driver at that time. My friend tracked down the owner and asked him to contact him when he was ready to sell the car. He got the call about a year later, I think about 1978. My friend rebuilt the original engine, (it had a lot of miles on it by then) and kept the car for a few years. He decided to sell the car in the early 80's, and advertised it in Hemmings. He was contacted by Don Garlits, who purchased the car for display in his museum in Ocala, FL. I visited the museum about 3 years ago, the car was still there. The sign by the car states that it was owned by an FBI agent, but that is not true. The original owner was just an ordinary guy.

There are rumors that there were four cars built, two more built for Canadian export, I am not sure.

This 67 wagon looks like a great car. I hope someone buys it and treats it right.

There was a Chrysler collector near here who had a Hemi 66 Coronet 4 door back in the early 90's. It was supposedly 1 of 2.

That's pretty funny!

I was looking (actually; drooling) at that particular car at one of the biggest American Car Shows in Belgium (Europe), last september.
The photo doesn't show it, but the car has a Belgian license plate on it...

I live close to the Belgian border so I often go the Belgium if they have something going on.

Somehow I can't find the pictures it took that weekend, but it's definetely THAT burgundy 428 Wagon, complete with black interior featuring a bench seat, 4-speed on the floor, hood tach on a semi-gloss black hood and Torque Thrust D's.

It really is a very cool and different Pontiac!!!

I'll post some pics if I can find em.

If I had the resources to restore it, it'd be MINE...

What a cool car I wish I could afford that car. That has to be one of the coolest wagons ever made! In 1967 if I had kids that would be the wagon I would get! Even good colors!

where in washington was the car?..i found one back in 77 working for bechtel at fftf in richland..thought it was the neatest thing ever..even had a console for the shifter..i believe it was green tho..maybe it was blue..my memory fades..:old:

Off topic but... I used to live in Richland WA from 78-79. My dad worked for Electric Smith, they were doing a bunch of electrical work at Hanford. I also used to live in Concord CA and go up there quite often to visit friends. Small world...

I spoke with various parties involved on the phone for several hours back in 2012 and the car was still available and supposedly the lien situation was in the process of being cleared up. I don't know if it ever did as I ended up moving twice across the country in that time and haven't had a chance to follow back up.

Thanks for the feedback. I've never forgotten about this one, and often wonder what happened to it. It's just so unique.

Yup, I agree. The price for it may be kind of ridiculous to some people, but to those of us who are into them it isn't that outrageous even if it was never worth what you'd have into it to restore it. If I had ordered a car new in '67 this would have been how I would have ordered it (except I would have gotten AC & power windows). I have a '67 wagon with a 4 speed I plan on making into a clone of this car.

You don't see alot of '67 wagons. Just under 7000 of the Bonny wagons made and most probably not optioned like this. The '67 half chrome sets this year off and I wouldn't pass on one if I had a shot and the $$. I saw this Executive at Norwalk in '14, not for sale.
