WANTED: 1964 CATALINA 2-DOOR SEDAN OR 2-DOOR HARDTOP; ORIGINAL "SUNFIRE RED"

Not interested in somebody else's definition of a "restoration."

Looking for an original "N" paint code Sunfire Red car with matching interior.

Car can be "NN" or "NC"; all-Sunfire Red or Sunfire Red lower with Cameo Ivory upper.

Project cars preferred.

No rustbuckets.

Thanks.

Anybody?

:noidea:

hurryinhoosier62 08-05-2009 03:16 AM

Good luck,Scotty. Most of the '64s I've seen in this area(mine included) are either
Liberty Blue or Black. The ONLY Sunfire Red one I've seen for sale was at a "rebuildable"
yard in South Carolina. It looked OK...needed alot of TLC.

Scott M 08-05-2009 05:25 AM

Anybody who actually has USEFUL information?

bigpop 08-05-2009 09:22 AM

Too bad you didn't ask for a Bonnie,There is a beautiful one partially restored in the BIG CARS FOR SALE section, too far restored for your wants, but it is a rare color. My buudy from "high" school,a golfing guy teammate's dad bought him a new 64 Lemans in Sunfire Red,Black interior,auto,etc..It was a beautiful car. Hope you find one,Scottie all the best bigpoop P.S DISCLAIMER: THIS IS -NOT -INTENDED TO BE, useful information, nor is it intended to be in any way, shape, or form worth reading. I am incapable of providing useful anything.

Scott M 08-05-2009 12:59 PM

Dear Allthebestbigpop:

Thank you for that useful information. That '64 Bonneville is a fabulous-looking car with the best color for '64, in my opinion.

Thing is, a '64 Bonneville convertible is not a particularly rare car, in my opinion.

All the best,

Scott M.

bigpop 08-05-2009 02:02 PM

Yep,you are right, not particularly rare at all. But,it is my favorite 64 color ,too,as mentioned in my BLURB.And I like 64's lines.
Oh,and I thought it was AllthebestbigpoOp,are we bonding,Scottie? God,I can only wish. Hope you find one,I'll keep an eye out.I do find unusual cars every now and then.
It would help if you gave me your definition,of project so I don't waste time looking.

I saw that car.

You've done a fabulous job on it, by the way.

However, it's way out of my range, especially in this economy.

I'm not really a fan of the 59-64 full size convertible body styles.

64catdroptop 12-04-2009 09:32 AM

I understand Scott, I just wanted you to know that it was still available. I should have the title for it in the next few weeks and then it's going back on ebay

Do you have a link to the post here on PY where it's for sale? I can't find it.

I was looking to lift the pics of your restoration, just to have handy.

Still looking for a '64 Catalina 2 door in the previously mentioned condition and color.

I know you are looking for a Cat, but would you consider an NN code 1964 GTO 2-Door sedan with black guts, and original 78X, 4 barrel, 4 speed project car?

local guy I believe still has his dad's Sunfire/Cameo Tri-Power 8-lug car. He has a real first gen 427 Camaro so I don't believe he's that hung up on the Poncho...but as I said...I'll check.

Gorgeous car but, no.

Rich_G 05-18-2017 11:07 AM

Scott, I have a 64 Catalina Ventura hardtop that is close to what you are looking for. Sunfire red but with black top. It's a project car that has a little rust on the front fenders - usual spot. A lot of surface rust. Interior is ok. Engine runs but I am about to pull it so I can replace a freeze plug (can't grrr the exhaust manifold off!). I was planning to get her running, put fresh brakes on her and see how the rest shapes up. No sense me yapping about my plans. It is for sale. 389-2 which I believe to be original. Glass is all good.

DK what color this car was originally you'd have to call and ask. Judging from the dash I'd say it wasn't red but one never knows.
