Excellent times, No doubt at all what spray can do.

Mike Thermos told me one time, "I can make a 155 HP Briggs and Stratton engine using a five horsepower engine, just don't ask me how long the crank will be in the case."

So how much was he blowing at it this time?

Woof!

BrandX 10-24-2010 01:59 PM

awesome run. Where was he racing? What does his car weigh? What nitrous jet? not hp, but jet?

Just wondering...I have read his issue of high performance poncho over and over and over again, definately the best issue they ever did....I was shocked they featured a "race" car, especially a nitrous car.

Would love to know more about his combo

Don't know the nitrous jet...the car weighs 3450. The Race was in Arizona heads up street car race....last night. I think it's one of those deals where they make you drain your tank after a 25 mile run...so everyone gets the same gas.

Polar-Pontiac 10-24-2010 02:19 PM

'how much' is an inverse function of 'how long' ...
no teardown maintenenace all season is the key recognition here.
live fast and have fun

I was told 200 less then what he was runing with the Tiger heads. LOL

BVR421 10-24-2010 04:59 PM

Is 'pump gas' anything like 'street legal'?

Do they get their 'pump gas' at the same place they get their state emissions test?

Love Robins car and really respect he and crews hard work but id like to see some truth in labeling LOL

Gach 10-24-2010 05:12 PM

Who cares !! He's kicking @ss with a Pontiac heads up against the Ford and Chevy guys. All runing the same gas so no one can cry.

liscensed, tagged and insured street cred.
robin routinely jokes about his competition being real street, as they NEVER show up on the STREET scene, like the central cruise in phoenix, which is pic'ed below last weekend-
as a local in tuscon, im sure youre aware...

Amazing performance!

I remember Robin saying something about the car not being legal in AZ, hence the Kansas tags. But that has nothing to do with the brand of fuel, heads, pistons, etc.

That is what I meant. Robin is on the right if I am correct.

By the way congratualations to Robin on his new best. I sure hope he can get in the 7s.

Robert

quick67bird 10-24-2010 07:47 PM

Calvin

I know Robin does his own heads, but I would love to see what your heads would do on his car.

Robert

bankbook 10-24-2010 08:05 PM

I think we all would.

Jeff Kinsler 10-24-2010 09:26 PM

good job Robin.. nice pass... I think Brian is going to go with nitrous instead of that F2 pro charger!LOL

BrandX 10-24-2010 09:36 PM

man those f2 deals make some serious e.t....My budget forces me to be a nitrous guy, but i would love a procharger.

BrandX 10-24-2010 09:37 PM

if i had 400 cfm heads and a f3r, i know i could make 1700 to the ground. Would be an easy 4.70-4.80 ride at 3500 lbs.

lreGTO65 10-24-2010 09:39 PM

That would be on an easy tune-up! haha

Turbos:D

Robert

Badbird69 10-24-2010 11:32 PM

Way to go Robin - congrats on your awesome performance!

Oh, and Gach.......while the CV-1's may be fine heads, they didn't just pick up three tenths on their own, after being on the car all season. It's all in the tuning and Robin is a tuner.

turbos are neat, and great qualifyers but always seem to choke on the line. The blower and nitrous guys win everything around here.

are you implying that it couldnt be done? We have a 580 chevy with out of the box dart heads and a single victor intake with a csu dommy blow thru and we have made 1700+ to the tires, and on a relativaly easy tune up.

lreGTO65 10-24-2010 11:53 PM

No, i'm implying that would be with an easy tune up...
And I bet with your chevy motor it would make more power if you took some stroke away from it...

Jim Robertson 10-25-2010 12:47 AM

Congrats to Robin and Crew. That SoB hauls!!!

The Mighty T/A 10-25-2010 03:04 AM

Thank you for the support!

I will answer some questions: The car has not been apart or changed in any great manner in 2 years. This combo made more power, the setup in the car could not take it! At first I needed to get the ancillary parts right (converter, gears, carb, etc.) then go to work on the tweaks (nitrous ratios, shock settings, chassis settings, etc.) and this engine now has over 60 trouble free passes. The last year of tuning I have not changed a nitrous jet. I have added a Digital 7, Sportsman Racepak and the like to help understand the car. Sorry fellas, the only video I have from Saturday night is of my rear tires where I learned how to make it 1.23 to the 60 without wheelstanding. A ton of hard work and new knowledge, very little hardware!! In fact, no engine hardware. So many have contributed to that knowledge I would need a page just to thank everyone but the shortlist includes Bill Anderson, Jim Roland, Kelly Blubaugh and Langer.

The D.A. was 2,400! Put me at sea level on a cool East Coast night and we have a solid 7! Understand I did not remove or disable a single part that was on it when I spent 3 hours cruising Central the week before or had on it at Norwalk: Big fans, 100A alternator.......

I feel proud that it is a Pontiac kicking "their" collective tails but I am most proud that it is a REAL street car whacking real race cars in classes calling for but not mandating street cars! A topic for a different day......

Keep the Faith!!!

BADDTA 10-25-2010 08:35 AM

SWEET!!

yeah we think so as well. We have talked about changing it this winter, but its really hard to pull apart a motor that is running great haha.

Region Warrior 10-25-2010 10:04 AM

Do'n it a way most would say "cant make that kind power and live".
Got'a love it.

Congrats.
